I like the suggestions below. I will also tell you, I do a lot of special events and most clients are no longer doing any type of goodie bag or gift for guest.

I think most parents would thank you if you did not send anything home. We all already have too much..

I don't wish to be a Debbie Downer, but are party favors really a necessity? Often when presented with one I sigh inside thinking "One more thing to give to Goodwill". It seems like such a waste of resources. Even the more useful items just may not be something the person/family needs, and don't get me started on the cheap plastic stuff that people often rely on.

Christina took my idea! ;-) When my oldest was small, he was invited to a birthday party for a younger friend. One of the items he took home was a personalized plastic lidded cup, with the straw attached to the side (actually part of the cup). It kept the kiddos from drinking out of each others' cups at the party. Used it for years!

How about frisbees? baseball caps? visors? helps protect your eyes from the sun while you are out playing those sports.....

Sunscreen?

Not sure if you are looking for favors for the Women or the kids who will also be there, but you should check out etsy.com search sports and you will find lots of unique ideas. Another thought would be to check out Oriental Trading they always have lots of things in bulk for cheap. Also, the Target dollar spot might have some fun sport items. You could even do a reusable popcorn container (old fashioned circus type item) filled with candy or healthy snacks. I have recently seen these at the Target dollar spot. Also anything with stars could be fun. Good Luck and Have Fun.

Not sure if you have Dollar Tree stores by you. They are also online as well. I just had a party for my sons birthday and bought all the party favors from there. Everything is $1.00 and they have multipacks (balls, discs etc) to be broken into. It was very ecomomical. However, you cannot "return" an item, but can exchange. Oriental Trading is great and economical too. The one thing I did give the kids was a "medal" for completing the games, every kid loved it! (wished I would have known...could have just got them that). The kids were 5 - 6 years old.

I LOVE the Target $1 section. They also have a $2.50 section. They add stuff weekly so you have to check often. I think there was some sports-themed stuff there. Depending on how much you want to spend, you can bundle a few things together in a pail, recyclable bag, or cello bag. For my daughter's volleyball birthday last year, I got colorful water bottles, wrist/sweat bands, socks, and a recyclable bag in that section all for $1 each! I added some other stuff I purchased on clearance at Claire's. Target also has an end-cap in their toy aisle that has outdoor/sports items for a few dollars-water guns, balls, etc. I am not sure what age group you are going for?

One ball or frisbee for each family. You might even find one that says "All Star" on it!

hmmm..depends on how much you want to spend. Once we gave out a park survival kit which contained a water bottle with band aids, small package of wet wipes, neosporin, tissue pack, trial size of sunblock and even tampons. I loved it and it was useful. I put all of the supplies in a ziplock baggie and still use the water bottle to this day.

A friend did something similar except she supplied a painters cap (not water bottle) for the kids to decorate.
