Anything made by lil'Tikes are really great. Sometimes a little pricey, but last forever I have jungle gym, slides, car and basketball hoop. I've had some since my 12y/o was 1 and still looks new and are very durable.

My daughter loves her car. We got it at walmart, but I have seen them at toys r us. It has a handle that you can push them in, but when they get older the handle comes off, and they can drive themselves. She also likes her swing and slide, also bought at walmart. It is only about a foot and a half tall so she wont get hurt if she falls. Most kids just love being outside regaurdless of what they are playing with though.

Susan,
I have a turtle sand box for my kids and as long as you don't mind a little sand in the pants, I'm sure that your one year old will love it! Good luck searching! A. B.

We bought a sand box for our one year old and he loves it. He ate more sand than I would have liked at first, but he got tired of that pretty fast and just loves to dig in the dirt.

We have a little tikes slide that looks like a castle. One one side it has a part for them to climb up and then there is a wheel to turn on the "landing" and then they can slide down. What I like about this particular slide is that the part that they climb up is more like a modified rock wall. It doesn't have true steps. My one year old loves it because he can climb up and down it without any problem, even though he has by no means mastered stairs. We have it in our living room right now, but I plan on moving it outside when we get a fence.

Most stores that sell toys like Walmart and Babies r us haver toys. Also The Tractor supply has a little 4 wheeler that I just bought for my 13 month old daughter. She absolutely loves it. Hope this helps.

I would get any type of riding toys. Boys would love any kind of balls that they could throw and hit with a bat. They have alot of little bats and balls that are for little ones. For a little girl, I am not sure, cause I have no little girl. I only have three boys. And when they were one year old, they would love to go play in a sand box that I filled with water instead of sand and they would play with boats and cars in it. They would also like to ride their little riding toys and play ball with the older brother.

I would suggest the Step 2 Water Wheel table. This is a toy that allows a child to play and explore water, as long your child is standing they should be able to reach the water and explore.

Little Tikes has always been great for any of their out door jungle-gym stuff, especially for little ones! I only wish my three year old was still short enough to slide down the slide! But I do have an 11 month old girl, and just recently we got one of the big plastic "kitchens", and we have been having it outside so far.. she loves it! She is cruising all the way around it and investigating the "cupboards" We don't have any of the teeny tiny "food" in it, just some big spatulas and stuff from our kitchen. It's gone over great!

I don't know about you, but I could put a box outside and my one year old would go nuts! Anything that is outside a one year old will play with! I would suggest that you find something that is low to the ground that she/he could climb on and around, also something that scoots or she can ride on. My niece has one of those little bouncy jumpers for little bodies and she loves it. I'm pretty sure they got it from walmart.
