I'm sure you can research that online. Also, find out what they actually get paid. Is it worth the pay for the work and money you put into it? And, are they typically hiring? What sort of layoffs or shortages do they have? Call around to various school districts. I know of people who have graduated with a teaching degree who cannot find a job 2-3 years later (still!). One is working on her Master's because she can't get a job. My BIL hates his teaching job because they are so understaffed and overworked, AND, they are not giving raises at all (not even cost of living raises). He loves the kids, but can live without the rest. But, they are stuck where they are (housing market is one of the worst where they live and they can't sell). Anyway, know what you are getting into before you commit the time and resources into it.

I don't know if they do teaching degrees but my hubby got a criminal justice degree from St Leo University and got hired on as a federal agent making six figures. Good luck!!! I also hear the university of OK 's online program is good.

Look into Walden University. It's actually accredited and gets VERY high marks for educational programs. Many Georgia school systems hire and recognize Walden certifications. I have 3 friends who have gotten advanced educational degrees there and have great jobs in metro area school systems. I would be careful with a teaching degree from University of Phoenix, and I don't know anything about Ashford, but you do NOT want to get a degree from a non-accredited place. To teach in Georgia, you have to have a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Education from an accredited institution, and you have to pass the Praxis exam in your subject area (elementary ed, special ed, middle or high school subject teaching areas like English). You should go ahead and get your Master's Degree if you're doing an online program, because it will automatically help you get hired easier and paid more.

In any state, you must have a 4-year undergrad degree at least.

I took most of my AA classes on line, but I went to my Community College. I looked at U or P, but they are REALLY expensive per credit. I suggest you look at your local college and see what on line classes you can take. The fees will be less, and you won't have to be so concerned about the school.

I actual am a UoP graduate and most Geogia colleges full accept credits from the online school (or onground class) as it is fully accredited. The only reason that I would caution going to UoP for a teaching degree is because I was told by a teach obtaining her Master's because she said that Cobb County and most Georgia schools do not accept the teaching degree from UoP. I read the post on Walden University and if their degrees are accepted by the State, then that is the school that you should pursue.
