Need a new OB I am not really happy with the one we have. I am only 13 weeks so I have a little time. I need someone who can deal with minor high risk patients. I live in North Seattle so Northgate or Ballard/Greenwood would be ok I really don't want to go to Capitol Hill. I saw some posts that said Meridian Women's Health Clinic is good... Anyone have any thoughts about this or other docs they just loved. I really loved my previous dr but change of insurance and health issues mean I need an experienced OB this time.

So What Happened?

Thank you to all the people who have responded so far. Most of the responses have been very helpful. But please stop recommending midwives. My question clearly states I need an OBGYN du to a high risk pregnancy and health complications. So please just OBs.

I love Dr. Frankwick at Meridian Women's Health. Don't wait too long to find a new one. OB's fill up fast and only take so many patients due at a time. My friend tried to find a new one (I think she was 20 weeks along) and couldn't get into one in her area unless they were new drs. Just a heads up.

I saw Dr. Shirley Andrews at Salish Women's Health at Northwest Hospital when I was pregnant with my twins. She is great as well as the other doctors and office staff!

Dr. Cindy White at Salish Women's clinic at the Northwest Medical Office Building Suite 21 ###-###-####. She delivered both of my babies. I chose her after going in to the hospital and asking the nurses who they would pick (I'm a nurse). She recently moved from North Seattle Women's Specialists in Ballard. She does have experience with "minor high risk" pregnancies. She is also a mom herself so she understands what it feels like to have heartburn and all of the other pregnancy discomforts. She has a great down to earth personality as well.

Dr Regina LaGalbo at Salish Women's health at Northwest Hospital is fantastic. I don't know her experience with high risk pregnancies are, but she was so great with both my pregnancies. My first ended up being an emergency c-section and I wouldn't have wanted anyone else performing it. I wasn't even aware that it had turned into an emergency until afterward. That is how calm and reassuring she it. I can't say enough great things about her. Here's her number if you want to call and talk with her. ###-###-####

R.- I love Dr. Denise Cho at Northwest Hospital -- she delivered my 4 year old grandaughter - dealing patiently and skillfully with medical and family issues - and a VERY stressed out Mom ( my daughters' husband was in Iraq -- not good when baby is coming) . She's wonderful and her staff is great-- just my opinion- but Northwest is a really nice hospital-

I use Meridian Women's Health. They are great - I see Dr. Frankwick but also really like Dr. Vu and Dr. Salerno. I've been with them through the birth of all of my kids and have had really good experiences.

I use Dr. Dobie at the Family Medical Clinic on Roosevelt. She practices through UWMC, which is in the U-district. She is my primary care, as well as my OB. I had a really good experience with her and the hospital for my daughter 2 years ago, and, at 35 weeks with #2 things are going great so far.

One thing i like about UW is that they have a lot of experience and support for any sort of complication, so, depending on what your risk is they may have the support you need there. At the same time, with my first birth, they really supported my wish to have as little intervention as possible.

I don't know if Dr. Dobie is accepting patients. However, i've also worked with Dr. Pauwels (sp?) at the same clinic, and i really liked her as well.

My daughter was seen by a group of midwives at Swedish Ballard. She had a very good experience with them. Their offices are just next door to Swedish's Ballard campus. Good luck...

The only OB that I saw was Dr. Peter Brandon, my baby was breech and he performed a (successful) version for me. I was very happy about his bedside manner (I only saw him once though) - I believe he still practices in Ballard.
I don't know what your health issues are, but I would look into midwifery care as well. They do deal with some underlying conditions as long as you're not high risk for your pregnancy. After being cared for by midwives during my pregnancy I would NEVER again go back to an OB.
I really like Swedish Midwifery in Ballard, they are CNM's and deliver at Swedish Hospital in Ballard. If you need additional care by an OB/GYN for specific conditions, they will refer you in a second.

I highly recommend my midwife Sally Avenson. She was there for the birth of both of my kids. 1st one ended up being a C-section (she can scrub in for surgery) & the 2nd one was a VBAC. She has over 30 years of experience & is very knowledgeable. Here is her info: http://www.swedish.org/body.cfm?id=6&action=detail&am...

I belong to Meridian Women's Clinic and have had a wonderful experience. I have had 3 babies with them and believe that my birthing experience was so positive because of the doctors and nursing staff. Dr. Salerno is the name of the doctor I see but they are all wonderful. I hope this helps.

I would highly recommend Dr. Patrick Morell who is in Kirkland at Evergreen Hospital. I know this is not within the immediate area you specified but I have had four children, all c-sections and he is one of the top OBs in the country. I lived in Edmonds when I had the last two and the drive was not that bad and well worth it. He is great, knowledgable on the cutting edge of any complications and I would drive 50 miles if I had to if I had another child. He is FANTASTIC!! You can look him up on the internet and, of course, call him to interview him if you'd like. He was recommended to me by a friend who had some very difficult pregnancies and I just couldn't say enough great things about him. Also, Evergreen Hospital is one of the top birthing centers to-date. They are wonderful, equipped for anything, warm and just a great place to have a baby!! Congratulations and I wish you a happy pregnancy and happy baby! :)
PS - I just read a couple of your responses and particularly the one about OBs filling up fast. I have never heard of this dilemma among professional OBs and would not want to see someone who turned people away. Don't run to someone because you're afraid they might not "fit you in" to their schedule. Run to someone because you know they'll be great and give you and baby the best care possible!
