Nuvaring - Midlothian,TX

A friend of mine uses a nuvaring for birth control. She told me she was having sex and it disappeared. Has anyone had this problem? She said she checked before and it was there. She looked everywhere and cant find it. Also was she protected during sex if it fell out?

What can I do next?

good thing is yes, she was protected when it fell out. Chances are it is somewhere in the bed, or under it. I was on the Nuvaring and love it! The great thing about it is you can take it out during sex to avoid the above mentioned and put it back in when you done.

As already mentioned, there is nowhere for the ring to get "lost". If it did fall out, she was protected as on the literature from the manufacturer, the option of completely removing it during sex is mentioned. I think you can have it out for like 3 hours at a time.

I've had the ring for 2.5 years now and it's not disappeared or fallen out.

There is nowhere "up" inside you for the nuvaring to go. My guess is it actually might have come out during sex - certainly has happened to me. She should check all around the area where she was; the ring is clear so it can be easy to miss.

As a piece of advice, I've found it easiest to simply remove the ring during sex and put it in afterwards. In case she asks, I've been using the ring for around 5 years.

I wouldn't take it out, EVER! I used the Nuvaring for 3 years exactly how it was recomended and I got pregnant. I'm married and we love our baby girl so no big deal. It obviously was what God wanted for us, but anyway......it may still be up there or it fell out. That does happen. She should be fine though!

I used it before my hystorectomy. It became stuck on my husband and was pulled out of me once. It may not be a bad idea to check around/under the bed especially if she has small children or pets that could get ahold of it. It's a possiblity.

She probably flushed it if she went to the restroom after sex. It's happened to me a few times and it's the one thing you have to be careful with with the ring. Also, it just could have gotten pushed up a little further than normal. That happened to me once too. I was positive I had flushed it and the next day it was there again! If she lost it right after her last cycle OR within the first few weeks of starting the ring for the very first time, there is a higher chance she could get pregnant, BUT if she's been on it awhile, the medicine is still in her body so she's fine. I would guess the chance for pregnancy would be extremely slim. Oh, and I've been on it for almost 5 years until recently... We're getting ready to start trying for #2! WHOO-HOOO!!
