Nursery to BIG Girls' Bedroom???

When did folks make the change? My daughter will be 3 at the end of the month. Her bedroom isn't particularly nursery like (navy furniture and pink/antique white accents); navy crib converted to a bed, pink/white french toile drapery and matching sheets. I'm ready for a change, but it will cost a fair amount of money. Should we wait until she develops tastes so we won't have to "change" again???
What's worked for others? Thanks!

What can I do next?

my daughter moved to a new room when she was 20mos b/c the second was coming 3 mos later. She was still in a cib, but her new walls were light sky blue. and i got cloud wallies to put up on the walls and 4 huge "net" butterflies from the chrsitmas tree shop for $1 each. to girl it up i got a bedding set in pink colors ( it was actually in AUG when all the back to college linen sales are on.... and got a dorm bed in a bag thing for her).... so it's all very big girl ish... but she's into tinkerbell now.... so i have some tinkerbell posters etc up... then when she's o nto something else i just change the posters/pictueres etc...... i love the wallies b/c they just go on and off with water, and can chage at any time.

since it doesnt sound too babyish I would wait until she can pick somethings that she wont out grow quickly. My son LOVES cars so I started switching form babyish theme to a car theme around 2.5 three years old figuring he wont outgrow that too quickly. I wouldnt switch to minnie mouse or barney or my disney princessess because she could be sick of that by age 6 but if she has a favorite color or she loves horses something that might last till she's 8 or 9??

If you are wanting a change, try checking out some thrift stores. Some aren't worth the effort, but there are a few that are quite nice. I have found kid's sheets, blankets, etc. You can also get creative...take an old shirt with an appropriate theme and make it into a pillowcase. It can give you the change you want, not cost a ton, and give you time for her tastes to come through.
Hope this helps. Good luck.

we recently moved our daughter, who's almost 4. We got her a cute bed/dresser set off of craig's list, and a nice mattress set on sale. We havent repainted or anything yet, we just bought a bed set on sale at Kohl's that had multiple colors in it and was fairly neutral (polka dots and stripes) so we wouldnt have to buy a new one soon and if we decided to repaint, it probably wouldnt clash with anything. She picked it out and has been loving it ever since.
