No Milk in the Sippy Cup

My 12 month old daughter will drink water perfectly out of a sippy cup. When I give her milk in the sippy cup she takes one little sip just to taste it and then she sets the cup down, she will not drink the milk only the water out of the sippy cup. Any suggestions on how to get her to enjoy the milk? I still warm it for her because I am a little more successful with it warmer than being cold.

What can I do next?

It's not necessary for humans to drink the milk of another mammal. If she doesn't like it, let it go.

Also, at the risk of sounding preachy, I H. you are not warming her milk in the microwave in a plastic sippy cup. Keep in mind that ANY plastic that says it is "microwave safe" means it is safe for the cup (not to melt), not safe for the person drinking the liquid inside it.

Be happy she does not drink milk. She knows it is not good for her. It is the highest allergen and yet ppl still don't realize where most of their children's issues are coming from. Offer organic almond milk instead of genetically altered, hormone infested cow or soy milk.

Try a straw cup instead of a sippy cup.

Try a different cup. Some kids get attached to their cups and know which one is for water or juice and then have a special one for milk. If she'll drink milk from a bottle them look for a sippy cup with a soft spout that is more like a nipple. Good luck!

I'd try it in a straw sippy cup. I didn't use normal sippys with my kids. They don't seem much different than bottles to me. My son is 14 months and he wasn't wild about cow milk either (he is still breastfed). This was a bit of a shock for me because unlike his sister, my son eats EVERYTHING! I would just keep offering. If she'll eat cheese and yogurt or even green veggies, I wouldn't sweat the milk situation. Since my son was still nursing a couple times and eating a pretty varied diet, I tried not to worry about it. At 14 months, he will finally drink more. He just started gradually drinking more of it. I offered first thing in the morning when he woke up and was hungrier. I never warmed it, but my son never cared if the occasional bottles of BM he got when I was away were cold so I didn't think it was necessary. Good luck!!!

I used ovaltine, great chocolate taste, lots of vitamins too.

Try giving it to her cold, like you would anything else out of a sippy. If she doesn't want it, stop giving it to her and let her just have water. Believe me, it is WONDERFUL to have kids who love drinking PLAIN WATER. And SOOOOO much healthier for them than training them to fill up on calories in their beverages (milk, juice, soda, etc). My daughter, who is now almost 9 still doesn't care for soda, and it's fantastic for her health- the teeth especially - the acids in the soda are disastrous for teeth! My son didn't start drinking any soda until he was about 8 or 9 years either, and we limit him to one per day, max. And that is only a couple times a week, if then.

Let it go. Give her other healthy ways to take in calcium (dark leafy greens anyone?), and let her drink her water to her heart's content.

Just my 2¢.....

try to put a little cho. or strawberry syrup then add less and less, try giving it to her cold! my daughter had the same problem.also she isn't a big sippy cup fan so i got her a cup with a straw! she does great with it now!
