New Vacuum Suggestions

I'm looking for any suggestions on a new vacuum. I would like one that can be used inside and to clean out the cars. Attachments would be nice for stairs, couch cushions and maybe doing the blinds. I guess our biggest problem inside is that my daughter and I have long hair and that was causing problems with the old vacuum. Mostly I want one that's going to last and not too crazy expensive. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks.

What can I do next?

I LOVE my Oreck XL. I got one of the higher end models. I have long hair as well.

It came with a warranty and I take in in once a year at no charge for a complete tune up and clean up.

Can't say enough about it and it is lightweight, easy to use daily.

My mom hates her Dyson because it is so heavy.

I love LOVE L O V E my Dyson. I, too, have long hair as does one of my daughters, and we have 2 dogs also (not to mention a couple of horses so there's a lot of dirt around here!). I haven't found a thing my Dyson can't handle. It sucks up dirt, hair and pretty much anything not nailed down! Yeah, it's a little spendy initially, but my rugs and my wood floor look so much better. Also, though I've only had mine for about 6 or 7 months, it's like it's just out of the box. I think it'll last a good long time. Well worth the investment!

I echo the Oreck. When it was time for a new vacume I went to several stores and tried out vacumes. Nothing came close to what the Oreck was able to do. Now when I vacume with my Oreck the house looks and feels like we have a new carpet. It's unbelievable.

We just had our one year service. It comes with the purchase of the vacume. They cleaned everything out of the brushes, oiled what needed to be oiled, put on new belts, etc. It's like getting a new vacume all over again.

Paid $500 for my Animal Dyson 7 years ago...and I will never buy any other brand name vaccum again. I have become a loyal Dyson customer.

Still runs great, picks everything up and I can use it everywhere. So worth the money.

My Shark stick canister was around 50 dollars and does everything you listed.

Another vote for the Dyson! We have 8 kids and 2 dogs so we needed something good and after burning through a number of other vacuums (including an Oreck unfortunately), we finally invested in a Dyson. Absolutely worth every penny! We actually ended up buying a second so we have one upstairs and one downstairs since we vacuum so often. They have an awesome warranty too!

We recently purchased a Miele 'Titan' after our Dyson of only 2 years started falling apart, (it never worked well for us-maybe a lemon?)! I LOVE the Miele...has tons of attachments including everything you listed and more! It has powerful suction, is easy to use/maneuver, and has been great for dog hair and my long hair. It was pricey: $600 or so. Eeeek! But worth every penny, so far!

We had a Bissell and now a Dyson. I like both of them actually. The Dyson is crazy expensive but the attachments are amazing, the best couch attachment I've ever had, it's light weight and I love the swivelyness! My Bissell lasted about 7 years and it did a good job. It was heavy and clunky and the attachments were only okay, but it was a good vacuum.

I had a Bissell until it died about 3 months ago. It's funny cause I posted asking about Vacuums myself and ended up purchasing the Dyson 25 Animal cause we have two cats. Yes it's more expensive but so far it's been well worth it. It picks up great. I got lucky and found it on sale for $399 on Sears.com cause they are usually more.
