New Mom Trying to Get in Shape - Wheaton/Aurora Area

I had a C-section with my son three months ago and have NO stomach muscles left. I have lost the 50 pounds I gained with him through Weight Watchers, but my stomach still sticks out and looks like I'm newly preggo, and my body is disproportioned (I still need to lose another 20). I want to take an excercise class instead of just joining a gym and looked into Wheaton Park District, but the classes are $80 for two months, too expensive. Do you have any ideas of more cost efficient ways to lose the weight? Does anyone Jazzercise? Any ideas to tone up after pregnancy? Thanks Moms!

YOu could get an exercise video. I'm sure you could find some good post pregnancy ones on Amazon. I'm 6 months pregnant right now and I have looked for some videos since I'll be trying to get back into shape in the middle of winter. Also have you looked at any of the Provenas classes? I know someone who takes the six-pack abs class, but I don't know how much it costs. But by far the most cost effective way to tone up is to get an exercise dvd.

Hello~
I actually live in Geneva and you are one huge step ahead of me with going to weight watchers! I have thought about going back and doing WW every time I see that Jenny comercial but I hate counting points. I'm currently trying to watch how much I put on my plate etc. I lost a lot right away with nursing but I have slowed down a lot. We ave an eliptical in our house and I need to take 20 minutes a day and use it!! I think you can get a membership to one of the gyms for that amount. The DVD idea is a good one. they have a good post pregnancy one with cindy crawford....

There's a book out there called "Loose Your Mummy Tummy" that I have just started reading. I hope it helps because my daughter is 15 months old and I can't get rid of my rounded belly no matter how much I run or do sit ups. Although I have recently read that sit ups or pilates exercises can make the diastis worse (that ligament like thing that holds the two sides of your abdomen togther which stretches out as you get bigger with pregnancy). Maybe the book will give some good exercise ideas so I'm giving it a try!

I do Jazzercise! I love it - I did it before, during and after pregnancy with all three of my kids. It did help me have easy deliveries, and recoveries, and helped me lose my baby weight and get back in better shape. When I was doing WW and Jazzercise, I lost a lot of my weight after my first was born. I gained a LOT with her too. Now that I have 3, I haven't been as good with my eating plan as I could be, and am not going to meetings, but I haven't gained any weight, and am toner then I have been before. A friend of mine lost 104 pounds with a good eating plan and the help of Jazzercise, and now she's newly become an instructor. Also, my cousin, who I joined Jazzercise with in 2002, became an instructor in 2003, and I became a registrar in 2005. Anyway, my point is, it lots of fun, always different, people make friends in class, the music is fresh, and it combines aspects of lots of different types of exercise - latin, jazz, kickboxing, yoga, and Pilates. Plus, every class has a strength training portion which helps tone and prevents osteoporosis! Do I sound like a commercial :)? Anyway, check out the Jazzercise website, where you can get a $25 coupon, which make registration free, and to find a class near you!

Try the DVD called Yoga for Your Pregnancy by Kristen Eykel, there's a post-pregnancy 15 minute workout on it. I also heard you're supposed to suck your belly in/tense the muscles in it all day and tie a string around your middle to remind you.
