My son is 5 1/2 months old and about 20 lbs. Our infant carrier/car seat only goes to 22 lbs, so we're going to have to get a new car seat soon. I know that I want a convertible car seat, but not sure what to get. Please help me with recommendations.

What can I do next?

I just recently purchased a car seat for my 8 month old son. All the britax ones everyone is saying they bought are expensive (over $200). I looked all over and decided on the alpha omega convertible car seat alpine blue by cosco or safety first. They have a couple of different models with different color schemes. I ended up buying my seat at babiesrus because I had a coupon but they sell it also at walmart and target. I looked for a seat that goes up to 80lbs, rearfacing to forwardfacing, one that would be comfortable for our road trips, and my husband wanted one that reclines so we ended up with that one and it was only $139.99. Every seat you read about online has negetive and positive feedback so you can't go by that. Good luck and please let us know what you ended up buying. If you ever want to talk or get together just message me.

We love our Britax carseats. We have two. They have a wide range of sizes to fit various needs. One will even go up to accommodate a 60 pound child. Good luck!

I recommend a Britax. We have 2 Roundabouts and love them. But, I believe that they make some Britax's now that go up higher in weight than this. Britax's are expensive but in my opinion worth every penny!!

Hi J.,

My son is a big baby too and since he needs to be in a rear facing carseat until one, we were challenged with the infant carseats. However, we bought the Graco Safeseat and it goes up to 30 lbs. I hope this helps. See the below link for more info.

We have the BRitax Boulevard and our daughter loves it. It is the newest oneonthe market right now. It come with the side impact protection "wings". They also work as a good head rest when she sleeps! :)

She is very comfortable and doesn't fuss at all when we have to go anywhere. It is alittle more expensive but she is worth every penny. It is also very easy to install.

We purchased the Britax Decathalon for our little one when she outgrew the carrier. This carseat is wonderful, it is convertible (both rear and front facing.) We have enjoyed it very much. It is expensive, but it will last a long time. The Decathalon goes up to 65 pounds. We will definitely get our moneys worth. Hope this helps!
