I am trying to get a head start on ideas for things for my girls to do during July. Last year I waited too long and everything was booked. The girls will be at their Dad's for the entire month of June, so that's taken care of. And they already have plans for August. But I'd like to find some fun things for them to do in July when they're both home. Last year, my grandmother just came over and watched them and they didn't get to do much and complained that she slept alot. She's just getting too old to watch them anymore.
I live in Watauga and work in Arlington/Pantego. The girls are 6 and 9. The 6yo is very girly-girl, is a complete animal lover, is excelling at school, loves to read, loves to learn, and is very mature for her age. The 9yo is quite a tomboy, loves all things musical, including singing, songwriting and playing guitar, loves video games and sports of all sorts, and is interested in learning to cook.
It is not critical that they go to the same place, but it would be nice if they could. It can be a day camp or an overnight camp. It could also be a combination of a couple different week-long camps. Also, I'm a single mom and though I make pretty good money, I'd like for it to be something that's not going to completely break the bank! Any and all suggestions are welcome!

try zoo school at the FW Zoo. I went as a kid and loved it, and I have friends that send their kids.
You should look into a summer day camp program at the YMCA. I am not sure which location is close you in Watauga, but the Arlington and it is a great program. There are field trips, etc. You can register them just for the weeks you want.

You need to check out Camp Thurman!!! It's probably very close to your work. It's near Pioneer Pkwy/303 and Bowen Rd. They are fairly reasonable for all-day camp, and do have some scholarships available, but you need to hurry. Good Luck!

I wanted to let you know of a business my neighbor has that is a kid's culinary academy. She does all kinds of stuff there. They are also holding a summer camp, but I don't know what the dates are. She is doing a spring break camp right now and says the kids are loving it so much. I think the girls would probably enjoy doing this. You should call her and get details on what they do in the classes.
