Hi, I am planning on buying a water table for my sons (20 mos and 4 yrs old) to play with when it gets warm outside. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what brand/model to buy?? My younger son tends to put everything in his mouth so I'm figuring that I probably shouldn't involve sand yet. However, I can just put water in the sand part (if it has one) until he's ready. Thanks for any helpful suggestions!

What can I do next?

My son will be getting the Step 2 one very soon. I have researched them all and it is my favorite. I think because it is big enough for multiple children AND it has an umbrella and our back yard is very sunny. I think it is great.

UPDATE: K., just wanted to let you know that Sam's club has this table for a little over $50! It is a great price!!! I just saw it today when I was running errands.

We have a water table we bought at a garage sale years ago that has gotten so much use. I don't have a specific suggestion in mind, but some general advice -

- Should be light enough for one person to move around when empty and small enough to store out of the way in the winter.

- Should be as general-purpose as possible. All that specialty stuff and little pieces just gets lost. All my kids want to do is fill it with water and float things in it and do experiments with mud and so on. It would just spoil the fun if they had to worry about keeping sand and water separated or keeping it clean. Personally, I think the sand/water tables are great in theory but I can't see them working with my kids. (we have a small sand box.)

Step 2 sand/water table is the best. The sand part lasted in ours for a very short time...gets really messy. While the kids thought it was the best, not such a good idea to use both sand and water at the same time...much bigger mess. Anyways ours is always filled with water and so much fun. My kids are a few of the youngest among the neighbors, but as soon as we got it, it was the 'new' thing. All the 6-8 y.o. just had to come and play. The cover is great and umbrella a huge plus. We actually got ours at Aldi a few years ago.

Hope you find one and have fun.

We have the Step 2 Sand and Water Table. My older one loves it. My younger one was too young last summer to play with it. It has a sand side and a water side. Both sides of ours is filled with sand. It has been great. It came with a few toys, but we got some trucks specially for it so that sand isn't tracked in the house. Have fun!

We like our Little Tikes Sand and Sea table. Comes with accessories (boats, shovels, etc., and an umbrella for shade from the sun). Also has lids to cover the two sides.
