Need Recommendation on Top of Stair Safety Gate
Does anyone have any recommendations on a good top of the stairs safety gate. I have a 10 month old boy who is so quick, and we definitely should have installed the gate a long time ago. We actually had purchased a gate when my daughter (now 3) was a baby, but we never installed it as we spent most of our time downstairs and had the downstairs gated off, so she wouldn't go up the stairs. Unfortunately, when my husband tried to install it last night, we realized that our stairs are wider than the 42 inch gate we had. Our stairs are about 46-47 inches. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks so much!

I love our Evenflo Secure Step gate. We got it at Babies R Us, and it came in a color that goes great with the beige/tan interiors of most homes. If that one isn't wide enough, you may want to try the Dream Baby gate. They have it at Target.com and also Onestepahead.com We were able to get a nice black one to go in our hallway. It is pressure-mounted, but comes with the optional mounting hardware. I like how it is self-closing too.

Good morning J.,
I would recommend a Kidco Gate with an extension. Kidco are the only gates approved for use in both Europe and the U.S. Also, depending on what type of stairs, you may need a framing kit(s). All are available in black or white. We would be happy to provide them, discuss or assist further -- ###-###-#### (local direct number). Thank you.

We got our KidCo top of the stair gate from OneStepAhead. www.onestepahead.com It's been terrific and would definitely recommend.

Call InfantHouse.com--they are local and great. They sell and install just about any baby safety item you could dream up. They have been to my house 3 times in the last year for such things!

we used a company called Little Bird Babyproofing to do our gate across the top of our stairs. he found one that matched our wrought iron - ordered and installed it for around $130. that was about 3 years ago but I have referred him to several people since then to do baby gates as well. he also does complete babyproofing in your house - toilet seats, cabinets, etc. well worth the investment :)
