Need Help with Baby Boy's 1St Birthday Part Entertainment - Pasadena Area

I've decided on the Sesame Street theme, particulary Elmo & Big Bird. Any suggestions on how to keep children (ages 1-5) entertained. Contacts on Jumpers (Elmo Jumper). Character Elmo? A train to give kids rides. A petting zoo contact. Not sure what exactly I will do until I check pricing and your suggestions. How about goodie bags, what do kids like? Will hot docs and macaroni salad be ok for kids? Any ideas will be helpful. I'm expecting about 15-20 kids and their parents. Pasadena area contacts would be great.

So What Happened?™

Thank you all for your advice. The party was a success. I ended up getting a jumper and a petting zoo wish included two ponies. I also had a piñata and a gift bag for each of the kids. My party grew to about 100 people, 40 of them kids. Everyone had a blast. I had great help from J&R party Rental in Highland Park, Jesus the owner helped me set up exactly as I wanted. The kids enjoyed macaroni & cheese, dinasour chicken Mcnuggets from Costco and hotdogs. For dessert a big jello made into Elmo's face and cake and ice cream. Adults had carne asada, beans & rice and a macaroni salad, of course chips and salsa too.

Hi S.!

I just had my daughter's 1 year old birthday party at a local park. I didn't want to spend a lot of money or have a big hassle. The older kids entertained themselves on the playground, and the babies crawled on the ground. Very laid back and not expensive. I gave bubbles for the favors and everyone loved them, even the older kids (up to age 8). I found the bubbles at Dollar Tree in 3-packs for $1.

As for food, keep it simple, but since hot dogs are still a choking hazard for young kids, maybe something else?

Oh- GREAT cakes at Auntie Em's in Eagle Rock. We had two- carrot and coconut and people loved them.

Have a great time!

I just had my son's first b-day.
Jump for fun has like new jumpers for a resonable price. And yes they have Elmo.
I love giving bubbles, crayons, coloring books and board books as party favors. Check out .99 store.
Although, I actually found crayons at Lakeshore on sale for about .50 a box!
Good luck and Happy Birthday!

If you're looking for theme party decorations, I highly recommend birthdayexpress.com. They offer complete decorating kits for parties as small as 4 or as large as 16 in 1 complete kit. Each kit contains a centerpiece, tablecloth, plates, napkins, cutlery, balloons, streamers, and hats. If you order the largest kit, you can even get a pinata included. They offer accessories you can order individually including personalized birthday signs. I used them for my son's first birthday party and I wasn't disappointed. I will definitely use them again in the future; it saved me tons of time having it shipped to our home instead of shopping around for all the stuff I needed. And I know for a fact that they have a great "Elmo" birthday kit. Take a look on line! Good luck!

they have a TON of fun stuff! they also deliver, set up, and pick it up for a small fee...

good luck

Goodie bag idea - for my son's 1st birthday party I gave out a small Dr. Seuss board book. The little toys they sell for goodie bags don't seem to be appropriate for 1 yr. olds (too small.) The little book from his party is still one of my son's favorite books! I did his party at My Gym. They set up and do all the activities so you don't have to worry about that. They do a great job and it's a lot of fun for everyone.
