Need Help with a PTO Assignment

I tried to post this earlier, but it seems it didn't work. I am a member of the PTO at my children's elementary school and have been asked to find an affordable option for providing each of our 42 teachers with a 10-15 minute chair massage on Tuesday, May 7th, during Teacher Appreciation Week. I was wondering if anyone had done something like this for their teachers before, or if anyone has any ideas of who to contact or how to go about this considering we have a very limited budget. ANY advice would be appreciated.

What can I do next?

You could see if the Aveda school behind the Home Depot/Portafino Shopping center in Shenandoah has students that could come and perform this service for you. I saw information that says they are now offering massages.

I would suggest calling your local massage therapy school. The students who are nearing the end of their course have to obtain so many hands on hours before submitting for their license/certificate. Hours that are aquired at a very cheap rate, but are usually really good. I've had several massages done this way, and most were really good. Just an idea~!

You can contact Massage Envy in Market Street and ask if they have anyone available. Sometimes they have therapists who also work on the side. They also have other locations as well. Hope this helps!

I would contact a local Massage School and see if they have any of their students willing to work at a reduced rate. The teachers get a little chair massage and the students make their practicum hours. Win- Win Situation! Good luck!

Hi, First I applaud you for being involved with your childrens school it really makes a difference! There are local massage schools that have students needing hours to graduate ( I had a co-worker doing this). I believe they may still charge but it would be much cheaper than a licensed message therapist. Thats where I would start. Good Luck!

Hi S.-

The only thing I can think of is to contact local spas like Massage Envy and see if they would be interested in coming out to do something like this for the school. Or if there is a massage therapy school in your area, you might be able to get some of the "massage therapists in training" to come out and do the massages.

Good Luck,
K.

I am a teacher for Confoe I.S.D. My junior high (McCullough) gave us massages and some beauty care for Teacher Appreciation a couple of years ago. Try calling my school and talk to our PTA liason.
