My daughter had a really bad first expierence with a local dentist. she is very shy and clings to me constantly. the first time i took her to this dentist they would not let me go back into the room with her which really scared her. I want to find another dentist who will be considerate of my child and make the expierence a positive one!

What can I do next?

I had a hard time finding one too. I went to the yellow pages and was overwhelmed with the number of dentists in Cinci. I wanted a female who would be very gentle on my daughter for her first visit. I also wanted someone who would be gentle on me!! Finally I just so happened to drive by "Gentle Dentle" in Hyde Park on Edwards Rd. Elizabeth Plas, DMD. She is wonderful, and sees babies, kids, and adults. It's pretty easy to get appts. and they entertained my 10 mo. old while I had some work done on my teeth. My 4 yr old loves it and gets prizes at the end of her visits. They have a DVD player to watch a movie while you are being worked on, but we aren't usually there long enough to utilize it. ###-###-#### if you are interested.

My children go to a GREAT dentist...it is hard to get an appointment, but well worth the effort. His name is Dr. Ryder. They do have a policy of no parents going back with their kids. My kids are also very shy and reserved and my daughter when she was 3 did not want to go back, so they had me go back with her. The next time she was fine and didn't want me to go back with her. (She's now 7) My son also was very apprehensive and he's gone 3 times to the dentist and I've gone back with him every time. So they do have similar rules, but they work with each individual family to do what is best for the child. Both of my kids just LOVE him. He practices in Northern KY most days, but also is in an office (I think it's only one day a week) in Cincinnati. The address is 4157 Hunt Road, Cincinnati, OH 45236 and the number is ###-###-####.
Good luck!

I will highly reccomend my Dentist and Hygienist(they do all the work anyway). DR Edward Wolf is located in the Jewish Medical Building on the corder of Glendale Milford and Reading Road. I have been going there for over 12 years. Sherry is my hygienist. ( You have to tell them if you specifically want her) They are all good, but she is a such sweetheart with a great personality your daughter will love her. My son is 4 and we went for his first visit together and he wanted to go first. They also helped watch my 14 month old while I had my teeth cleaned. They are normally pretty booked out, but are taking new patients. YOu can use me as a reference. Good luck!

I take my son to Dr Scott Anderson in Blue Ash on Cornell Rd. My son went for his first visit 8 months ago. He was TERRIFIED! He was even afraid to let them clean my teeth. He did ok after some conviencing, well a LOT of conviencing the first time. Then he was able to pick out a prize when he was finish. The second time which was 2 months ago we went for a routine visit and he didn't even want me to stay in the room with him. They are really wonderful with children and the enviornment is great. They put on a movie while the kids are getting their teeth cleaned.

I'm not sure what area of town you are looking for, but I have a great recommendation in the West Chester area. Dr. Nanette Sherman. It is a very caring atmosphere, the technicians are wonderful with the children and supportive of the parents. I've had a great experience with my two older sons (five and three) and plan on taking my younger son when he is three. Dr. Sherman's contact information is ###-###-####, 7908 Cincinnati-Dayton Rd. Good luck.

My daughter was exactly the same. We found Healthpoint Dental and our problems ended. My daughter wouldn't even open her mouth for us to look at her teeth until we took her to Healthpoint Dental. They explain everything they're going to do before they do it. They have a TV w/ DVD player so you can bring their favorite movie or they can watch cartoons. They also have to child "assist" the hygenist with the duties. They gave my daughter one of the tools and had her try it out. They made her feel very comfortable before even touching her mouth. She is now 7 and looks forward to seeing the dentist, can you believe that? They also give them a book, toy, and new toothbrushing gear after the visit. I highly recommend them! We go to the Bellevue office, it's right off of 471 - RT 8 exit, behind Party Source. If you need the number, let me know. Good Luck!

I take my son to Southwoods office in white oak....its a drive for us but he LOVES it! They let him watch me and his dad get our teeth clean, play games as they clean, and have a warm friendly environment! They are good at explaining everything. Rooms are big enough that the whole family can go back if thats what will help the child. I love it.

Our peds dentist is awesome. It might be a little farther than you want to go for a kids dentist, but he's on Five Mile Rd in Anderson Township. Dr. Ron Poulos. He's very nice and gentle, they have video games and toys in the waiting room, they even have flat screen tv's with movies on above the chairs where the kids will sit (you just need to bring your own headphones). We love him! You can check it out online at www.drronskidsteeth.com

Good luck!
