Hi E.,

This may be completely not what you are asking for, but the new tankless water heaters are very cool. They are more expensive, but you get a tax break (for saving energy) I think it's about $500 the year you buy one. It is supposed to save you on your energy bill as well. You get an extra closet where your old water heater was. And, you never run out of hot water because it's made on demand. We don't have one, but my parents got one and I think when we need one we will get one as well. But, I think before that time comes we're going to need new air conditioner units - ugh.

Good luck! C.

We just had ours done a few months ago.... David Bateman Plumbing was WONDERFUL... very polite and clean. Which is more than I can say for most that came out to give me a quote.

He was very reasonable. His number is ###-###-####

We just replaced ours and after comparing the Lowes brand with the Home Depot brand, we went with the Home Depot. They can arrange having it installed for a reasonable price. I think if you have another store in mind, you can call a plumber for installing it, but I would sure get some price quotes if you go that route!
Good luck!

Home Depot has the best price for installation, but make sure you look over their shoulder and they do it right. I had new tile, water heater, and a dryer installed by them over the years. The only one of those that was installed properly was the water heater! (They didn't balance the dryer or use the manufacturer's recommendations for installing it so the heat sensor didn't work after installation. My DH had to balance it and put in the proper ventilation ducting to get it working correctly. The tiles they put in became loose days after installation on my kitchen floor!).
They contract out to cheap contractors and pay them very little to do the work.
I have learned my lesson. Next time we are going to DIY or hire someone outside the store even if it does cost more.

BTW those Tankless water heaters are Awesome! I have a friend that has one. She Loves hers and says she will never go back to the tank type.
