I need a 'pampering' salon and someone who works well with curly hair ;) Someone in Plymouth, Livonia, Northville, Ann Arbor or in close surrounding area would be great. Thanks

What can I do next?

Hi S.,

I go to Untamed Tan in Ypsilanti, off Whittaker Rd. Heather Couch is my stylists, she ROCKS! :-) ###-###-#### Tell her Debbie Pipkin recommended you. Good luck, let me if you decide to go with her, and if you like her as much as we do.

Hi S.,

My name is E. and I'm a stylist at LifeSpa in Novi. It's actually a salon within Lifetime Fitness (on Haggarty between 8 and 9 mile). I specialize in curly hair, and I would love to meet you! The best part is that you do not have to be a member of the gym to use the salon, but on the day of your service, you can use the entire gym (including the pool) at no charge. Not only that, but you are permitted two hours of free child care (they have a really wonderful play area that children love) while you get your hair done!

I work Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday from 10-8pm. You can call ###-###-#### if you decide you'd like to make an appointment. Good luck on your search, I know finding a stylist can be frustrating and a bit scary!

Take care,
E.

Try Ashka in Canton - I think they just opened one in Brighton as well.

Sui to pampering at a discounted price...
The J Douglas Hair Institute (School) in Ann Arbor has hair cuts done by the students under guidance of instructors. Very professional. They massage your scalp with oils, offer you tea, coffee, or water, wash, cut, dry, style your hair and give you a list of the ideal products for your hair. They try to match you with the best student based on your hair... it all costs $16!

There is also the actual studio next door where I guess there are other things offered... massages, facials, etc. I haven't been there though.

Hope this helps!

I have curly hair and have been going to MIchelle at Mystique Day Spa (www.mystiquedayspa.com) since I moved back to the area from college in 1999. I have had long hair, short hair, and everything in between since then, and I have even gone to other stylists once or twice and I keep going back to Michelle because I am ALWAYS happy with the results. It's pricey-- $40 for a cut, but I think it's worth the expense. ALso, they only use Aveda products and have coffee, tea, snacks available. I have also had their spa manicure and pedicure, facial, and eyebrow arching services and the whole salon is a soothing oasis for me!
