I am suffering from the wintertime blues! Dreaming of a spring break vacation.

Has anyone ever been to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina for spring break? We would be going at the end of March/early April. Is it too cold to swim and go to the beach?

Any recommendations on family friendly hotels/resorts? There seem to be several listings on the web - just wondering what is a good choice. We will be taking a 9, 7 and 4 year old.

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

Have you heard of Panama City Beach Florida? Our family has been going there for years now, oceanfront is breathtaking, emerald green waters, white sand, reasonable condo rentals. We loved it so much we bought one. Weather is the same all over the coast, water along the shoreline is always comfortable, the sun and sand are warm, and great for tanning. This area is one of Floridas best kept secrets, and one of the top 15 beaches in the country. L.

We prefer North Myrtle Beach. Check out Ocean Creek Resort. It's right across from Barefoot Landing.

I grew up in Wilmington, NC which is about an hour north from Myrtle Beach along the coast. Great area, lots to do. The time frame may be kinda cold to go to the beach but there is lots of other stuff to do. They have a place called Broadway by the Beach that is great. There is a big aquarium, an imax theatre, putt-putt courses. The Dixie Stampede is alot of fun for kids. You can go online and request a free vacation guide that has everything you would need to know in it. I think it also includes coupons. There are lots of hotels with indoor pools so the kids could still have fun in the water. Just search online for Myrtle Beach vacation guide. Have fun!

It really just depends on the weather that time of year. Sometimes it is really warm and even if the ocean is cold you can spend all day at the pool. Sometimes it is a little on the cool side. Always bring a windbreaker for evenings and at least one sweatshirt. We always stayed at Ocean Dunes or Sand Dunes. We loved Myrtle Beach as kids. I've been there probably 10 times. Any place with a fabulous pool will be great for the kids. I would get an efficiency and bring food too. Have fun, I'm so jealous that you all are going!
