My Little Guy Eats like a Entire Football Team! HELP!!!!

Ok here is my dilemma. I was reading another posting where people were advising that babies really don't get much nutrition from jar baby foods. Up until Hudson's 4 mnth well baby check he was exclusively breastfed but, he really doesn't care for it much. At that visit our pediatrician recommended that we start solids. So, we did. He LOVES it! He will eat a entire jar of the 2nd foods. I also mix it with cereal (advice from the doc) b/c he likes it better and the texture makes him less messy to feed. BUT, he not only eats the jar mixed with cereal, he also nurses before and after!!!
My little guy's weight is fine, actually he is kinda small--15% for both height and weight and his weight gain has been consistant even after introducing all this solid food--his bowel movements have increased significantly, though! lol
Is this normal boy behavior? My girls never really cared for jar food. I didn't start them this early either. (Different pediatrician w/the girls) Any suggestions, thoughts, or advice? I would sure appreciate it!!!

What can I do next?

Doctors usually say to let the baby be the judge of how much he needs, unless there's a significant problem with the baby's weight. My son (now 9months) has always eaten MUCH more than average ... his daycare providers were amazed! But, my son is healthy and he's height and weight are average. He beefed up slightly (75% percentile both height and weight) right before he started crawling, but now he's back to average. So, I'd say, let your son judge how much he wants!

I have a 4 1/2 mo little boy. He weighs in at 16 lbs. WOW I know. He was 8 lbs at birth and has always been at the 80-85% for both weight and height. I started solids at 3 1/2 mo because all the suddon he started waking up more at night. I too am breastfeeding. No problem with that. My problem is that he still wakes up at night hungry. Like last night he had #1 jar of carrots around 8:30 then I feed him 2 tbsp of rice cereal at 11:00 hoping that would keep him asleep longer. I nursed him afterwards and put him to bed at 11:40. We stay up late--it's crazy. He woke up at 2:30, 4:30, 6:30 and 9:30 he stayed up. Each time I will breastfeed for about 10 mins to make him fall back to sleep. He won't take a paci. I've always been told that if they eat cereal it helps them sleep. I wonder if it causes him to have tummy pain or gas. I never hear any toots but by 9:30 this morning he filled his diaper.

I guess to help you with your question feeding at the age you are should be ok. My pedi told me to start solids at 4 mo and I did the same for my 4 yr old daughter. I never had as much trouble with her waking up. I guess boys are more needy.

He sounds like my second baby. It was like she was born starving! i never seemed to be able to fill her up. She was not a good sleeper either- she wanted to eat so often! At about 12 months, she settled down to a normal amount of eating- we figured she finally got filled up! Now she is almost three and eats very little. You just never know. As long as he is healthy and has a good weight, I would let him eat. Of course that's just my opinion.
