I am having issues finding my 2 youngest children (a girl 6 and a boy 3) the best battery or electric ride on toys for under $200 and I was wondering if any one had any ideas or reviews on the sitting scooters and motorcycles or quads for kids that you could share with me. I prefer that they be able to use them for a few years after this year. So something they can grow a little with. PLEASE HELP!!!

What can I do next?

I love powerwheels. My husband recently put out an add on craigslist requesting one for cheep cause our daughters barbie dunebug is starting to look rough after 3 years of use (still works fine just look bad) and in hours he got a response from a lady saying she had several that needed batteries. We went a loooked at them and ended up buying 4 for $20 a piece all needed batteries but my husband is handy and just used $30 lawnmower batteries that he wired in and uses a car charger to charge them. Even if you dont have a handy husband a $20 powerwheels and a $70 battery is still cheeper then a new one. Also one of the ones we got from that lady was a peg pergo 4-wheeler and its far better constructed then the powerwheels but we looked up the retail price and it was $399 new. Also check yard sales and the newspaper. This time of year people dont want to store them for winter so they will sell them.

We bought our son a caterpillar/bobcat rechargeable battery ride on when he was 4. Personally, I was disappointed. It was big, took up a lot of space and was a pain to get out and put up. When we did get it out for him to use it seemed that the wheels would always spin and had little or no traction. Most of those ride on toys specifically say that they are made for children 6 or under (unless your 6 yr. old is small for their age). I would think that one that is made for a child over the age of six would be more than 200.00 unless you found it at a yard sale, consignment store or saw an add in the classified section of the paper or on the internet. You could post your own add to let others know that you are looking this type of toy and how much money you are willing to spend.

We have a Barbie Jeep which we bought on Craigslist for under $100. That is my suggestion to you. Try Craigslist. In my area there are at least one of these a day going on there. I lost a few because I wasn't quick enough, but got this one & my kids love it.

A great website to try is www.mobileation.com We got my son a razor 4 wheeler (he's 7) from there and it has been great! Its battery operated and only goes 9 miles an hour max. They were a great company and delivery charges are included in the price! Good luck Almost forgot something to look for in a 4 wheeler or some other ride on toy try to get rubber wheels if you go with the hard plastic wheels they tend to spin and have a hard time getting traction!

Our 2 boys have powerwheels Ford F 150. Grandparents got it for them(we could never afford a $350 toy:)) It has been amazing. The best part 4 kids can ride in it. I made a seat belt for the back so when our boys have friends they all can ride. It has been used almost every day since last dec and still going strong. I have seen them on Craigslist for under $200.
