The answers here so far make mine seem selfish, but I'm gonna go out on a limb here and be honest...
I want a day that was planned FOR me, and allows some alone time FOR me. I want breakfast in bed, without hearing the kids downstairs fighting while I eat it.
I want a massage scheduled FOR me, that I get to have done mid-morning. Alone.
I want reservations made FOR me for lunch somewhere for me and my adult mommy family and/or friends to go. No kids.
Then, I want the rest of the day to come home to a clean house (see, they cleaned it while I was being pampered), and just be with my kids and husband. By then, I'm stress-free, feel special, and have the energy to be a good mom and wife the rest of the afternoon and evening.
My kids are great, and my husband is too. But if I got what I REALLY want, that would be it. :)

Well, the fluffy PC answer is something homemade from my kids (which I do love) and a nice brunch with my family.

But what I really want is dinner exemption for a week. If I didn't have to plan or cook one stinkin' meal for a week I'd be overjoyed! Beside myself! Down right giddy!

Spending time with my mom and my grown kids. With everyone out-of-state, it doesn't look like this it is going to happen, so spending some time on the phone will be special. And my husband will go out of his way to treat me special.

My daughter. The fact that she exists. That's it.

I have no expectations for a particular date on the calendar, and so I've never been disappointed ;-)

Last year my son went into emergency surgery on Mothersday night, and we spent the next 5 weeks in the hospital. Got my best gift ever right then. He lived.

This year we're talkin dim sum & pedicures & James Bond marathon. He's giving me a locket (in case my phone battery dies, says techie generation kid;), so I'll always be able to see his grin, even when he's not with me.

For me, it's hubby and kids, washing my car, making the meals without asking me "what do you want", and spending quality time as a family.

A day off without kids, LOL!

And this year I am gettting a whole weekend off - Friday afternoon through Sunday afternoon, MIL, SIL and I are going on a weekend getaway staying in a Hotel, going to a spa for Pedi and Massage - eating out all weekend, shopping!!!!! MY DH is taking on all 4 kids alone all weekend!!!!!!

Lets hear it for the boy! Lets hear it for my Man!!! He is so awesome!

I know you are all jealous! (Don't worry, he gets his free time all fall and winter while I am a hunting widow!)

Not gonna lie, I love that my husband brings me breakfast in bed. But other than that, the best gift is my son's smile every day of the year.

My husband brings me flowers and a heartfelt card. I love that. But my favorite is when he makes me dinner. It's so sweet and thoughtful, takes planning and forethought. That's what it means to me when someone says - it's the thought that counts.

I'm also truly hoping for some sexy new perfume!

I want a day where I don't have to do all the work. No dishes, no cooking and no cleaning. I don't really care about a gift per say but do want my kids to call me and say happy mothers day if they can't see me. I get they might not see me as one lives in a different state. and they all have jobs etc. but at least call. When they were young our day was to go to church, eat lunch out and then go to a nursery to pick out my flowers. then home to plant them. I miss that mothers day

I know all the answers are going to be cheesy and so is mine: Just spending it with family. Having my mom to spend it with and my kids to spend it with. Anything else is just an extra bonus:)

I'm happy with a day of no housework or dishes. On top of that, I just like to spend the day playing with the kids. We're going to the Zoo this year. I also turn 40 on mother's day!

I like to get flowers from hubs and some cute homemade cards from the kids. Husband usually cooks or we order something in. My daughter (age 7) is a sweet heart and always makes something special or just wraps up something special from her room and gives it to me!!!!!
