Mom's Group in the Northland Area
Does anyone know of any mom's groups in the Northland area? We just moved to Kansas City and do not know anybody. It's bad enough moving, but to do it in the winter is the worst!!!!!! We have been stuck in the house several times because of the cold and snow and I am ready to go nuts!! I have an almost 3 year old girl and would love for her to meet new children and have some fun. I am in need of some fun myself!!

Hi C.,
I am in the Northland too and I have our youngest, who is three, enrolled in Parents as Teachers. It is free to the residents (ok not free at all....our taxes pay for it so you should take advantage of the program) and they offer several things to do throughout the month. I have been here for about four or five years and have found it extemely difficult to meet people. There is a little brochure callered Mother & Child Reunion that list several groups. Local schools and The Parents as teachers, grocery stores and restaraunts have the brochures. Good Luck. Where are you from?

Hi C.. Try checking out meetup.com there are several mom's groups on there. Several require a yearly fee if you decide to join but most are only $10 a year. It is free to register on myspace to check it out. There is also another liberty group I know of on another website. If you are interested in that group let me know and I'll get you some more info on that group. Personally I live in the Northland also so if you ever need ideas of things to do I may have a few.

If you haven't found a church yet, and you know where 72nd and North Prospect are, there's a church across from Hy-Vee that would gladly welcome you and your young one. If she can stand being seperated, she could be in my SS class. I teach usually 4-8, but I could make an exception. My church is Gladstone Baptist Church 7102 N. Prospect Gladstone, MO. I'm a grandmother myself but all but 1 God-grandson, are grown now so I really enjoy teaching the little 1's. The Pastor's wife is my assistant. My Name is P. Watson and we'd be glad to welcome you and your family. SS starts at 10am, services at 11. We get out usually about 12:30. We have contemporary and traditional music and loads of Spirit filled love.

Hi C.,
Welcome to Kansas City! I organize a large health group in Kansas City that many mom's have joined to learn about healthy food prep for their family. I looked to see if there were groups for just "Moms" and there are, all around the northland and Metro KC. I'm linking you to mine but then just go to the top and type in "Moms" in the search. Since you're starting at my group's page you will have the proper zip code for your search. Hope that helps! --M.

I know there is a MOPS group that meets somewhere here in the northland...my 1st baby isn't due until May so I'm not in a moms group yet, but I have some friends who are involved, so I emailed this page to them. Hopefully they will either post a response or I will hear back from them and can pass the info on to you! Good luck!

Hi C. - Welcome to the area. There are quite a few Northland mom's groups. The ones I know about are on the Meetup.com website. You can type in your zip code or city and the ones closest to you should come up. I am in Mommy and Me and we have a great group. We have a monthly meeting and lots of activities throughout the month. We'd love to have you check us out. Our website is http://sahm.meetup.com/1327
