My 9 year old daughter spends the summer in Atlanta with me. She has been taking some gymnastics classes however feels they aren't teaching her what she wants to learn. Does anyone know if there are some great summer camps in downtown atlanta, maybe a 15 minute commute? Maybe half day, but will be more aggressive in teaching her flips and handsprings. Also any young girl clubs that we could become involved in?
Thank you for your help

Parent Magazine will have their summer camp edition coming out in the next week or so. Use that as a starting point. There are many camps that she may like attending.
Also, the malls have camp expos in March. Check on-line for the camp expo at the malls your frequent.
Have fun!

There is a wonderful gymnastics program at the Tucker Recreation Center in Tucker on Lavista Road. Tucker is just outside of Atlanta.

The civic center in Marietta has a great gymnastics program. They train children for competitions and such. I have never personally seen the program or the summer camps but I have heard about them. Look them up and see what they offer.

Hello from Candler Park! I don't know if this is helpful, but I belong to the Decatur YMCA on Clairmont Road and I have noticed they have gymnastic programs for little kids. Perhaps their gymnastic teachers could suggest programs for nine year olds. I would also check with public and private schools to see if they have summer programs planned, network and ask your neighborhood organizations (Inman Park and Candler Park also)I would also check out if Emory Univ. has any athletic camps for kids. Finally checkout Creative Loafing and Access Atlanta to see if they have anything listed. University of Georgia has a great gymnastic program, I would also check with them for info on nearby options.
