I'm looking for either a playgroup or classes that I could take my son to. I was just wondering if there was anything out there that is either free or really cheap. A friend of mine in Las Vegas said they go to free classes done by a non-profit and I am trying to find something similiar here in OKC. Does anyone know of anything? Thanks!

What can I do next?

Go to the public library. They always have stuff going on for little kids, story times and activities. It is fun and free and your baby will grow up loving reading. Best thing you can do for him. A lot of churches also have vacation bible schools going on in the summer and they are alway free. I used to take my kids to a different one each week, it kept them busy and didn't cost me a cent. Your little guy is probably a little young for that right now, but keep it in mind for the future. Check out the ZOO, sometimes they have free days and special activities. Also, even though it is not free, go to the Edmond Fine Arts Institute. They have classes you can go to to help your child develope a love of the arts. Call the parks and recreation department in Edmond, too. They used to have a free program in the summer that was called "Play in the Park" and they did art activities and things at the various parks around town...all free. As you start to go to some of these activities talk to other moms there and I am sure you will find a plethora of things to do with your little one for little or no cost. Have fun!!!

Check out MetroFamilyMagazine.com/calendar or the actual magazine (available at libraries, etc.) and look for the Support Groups section at the very back. Good luck! S. Taylor, Publisher

Hi,

I live in Moore, and I take my 10 month old to the library every Wed mornings for an infant reading/singing class. They also have a music class there every other Thur and he really seems to like it, the classes are 30 min long so it keeps him enteratined and isnt to long.

It is really hard to find things to do with a toddler that young. But I remember how ready I was to get out of the house! The Edmond library has playtimes and story times for little ones that is well done and lots of fun. The down side is that you won't meet the same moms everytime. If you are looking to get to know people, look in to MOPS (mothers of preschoolers) in Edmond. They are an active group of moms and should have fun activities - many will be free or reduced cost negotiated for group rate.
