I think it's as simple as you need more than 5 hrs of sleep on a consistent basis. I also know that may not be possible... but I do believe that's the problem. We need more.. hang in there.

Exercise! Ya need more of your energy burned off. Your body is not tired. If not exercise major cleaning around the house. Yard work is a burner of energy for sure. Just push a lawn mower. LOL

Hope Mr. Sandman comes soon for ya.

Exercise! Even walking around the block every day will help. SING!! Singing will also have the same effect, it gets the blood pumping ;) Maybe try to take a 30 minutes power nap during the day, even if you don't sleep, put your feet up above your heart level and kind of meditate; focus on your breathing. This helps me get my head back on straight most days. Even just a few quick jumping jacks helps me perk up a bit!

5 hours is not enough. if you wake up take another melatonin. I'm taking a womans multivitamin, a B-Complex, and a Calcium with D pill every day and it has dramatically improved my energy. Excercising also really gives me a big all day boost and helps me sleep better at night.

Yeah, you're still tired because you're getting ONLY 5 hours of sleep per night. Go to bed earlier. Don't snack late. Drink enough water but cut off your fluids by 7:00 PM. Exercise during the day, and all you need is half an hour even if it's just a walk.

Check your diet. If you're not eating well that can affect how you feel. Eat fruits and veggies and ditch the junk foods. Try to reduce the prepackaged processed food like items and go for as much real food as you can. It doesn't have to be organic, just real food. Try to buy locally as much as possible since local farmers will be less expensive, they will be organic, and you'll be supporting local businesses. Get as many of your vitamins through your food as you can, but don't underestimate vitamin supplements.

If the kids aren't on a routine for bed time, it's time to start one. If you don't have a daytime schedule and routine and you're SAHM, set one up. Include rest time for the kids if they don't nap. If your kids are old enough to play help, then they're old enough to help with simple chores. Make sure your husband helps with chores. Don't think you have to do it all by yourself.

I agree that 5 hours is not enough. I go to bed about 11 and get up at 6 and that still is not enough for me, but that's all my schedule will allow right now. I would try to get more sleep if you can. When at my worst I would resort to taking cat naps during my lunch hour in my car. A good 45 min power nap always seemed to do wonders for the long drug out afternoons.

I was diagnosed with narcolespy so if you think you have that you can PM me to disucss it.

no caffeine AT ALL, moderate workout routine 1 hour before bed and stretchhhhhhhh.

also you could buy a mattress topper, a memory foam, or down one for like less than 200, we have a down one on my bed, a memory foam on my daughters and its like sleeping on a cloud

stress could be a huge factor! I've been taking melatonin for insomnia off and on for a couple of years. Stress was a HUGE factor in how long I slept and how I felt the next day.

5 hours is still not a lot of sleep. Maybe that's why you're tired.

I'm currently weaning myself off of melatonin. While it sort of works, I still find that it leaves me a bit ragged in the a.m. Also, since it's unregulated, who knows what's really in there, which is my biggest concern.

The first few days off of it, I swear I was going through withdrawal. Sort of panicky and overemotional during the day, which is not what I'm normally like. Going through withdrawal is not a good sign for what might be in the brand I took, at least.

So here's what I'm doing -- turn off the tv and read at bedtime. I swear I'm lucky if I can read 5 pages before I'm exhausted. Then if I wake up during the night, instead of lying there trying to sleep - read again. I'll be awake at most 1/2 hour, that way. And I'll get a lot of reading done.

No melatonin.

We bought a memory foam topper 4" and we also put a feather topper on top of that it is like sleeping on a cloud. I was waking up sore in the mornings. Have you considered that it could be a hormone imbalance? I had the problem of not being able to sleep a few years ago. I also had migraine headaches and I started using a Natural Balancing Cream from Arbonne which stopped my migraines and helped me to sleep a full nights sleep. I started using the cream in July of 2002 signed up to get a discount in February of 2003 and haven't had a migraine or a sleepless night since and I never had all of the big M symptoms all of my friends and family are and have been complaining about. PM me for more information

Although as moms we may feel that 5 hrs uninterrupted sleep is sufficient, it really is not. We really need at least 8 hrs of sleep (yeah, don't get that often either) to be fully recharged. My guess is you still are not getting enough sleep and being a mom takes a lot out out of us.
