Meds While Trying to Get Preggos and During
I already have a 3 year old and we are wanting to get preggo again. However, I have an anxiety disorder that I have been taking a low dosage of Paxil for - I have since stopped taking it but am living miserably. I can't sleep, I am irritable, uncomfortable and very anxious - does anyone have any advise on this matter? I am trying to find out if there is anything I can take during this period of time to ease the discomfort or it is a major life decision that I have to make to just not get pregnant again- and we really want 1 more. Please tell me if you have gone through this or what your thoughts are. Thank you!

I have also had great results with Zoloft. I think it has helped with my anxiety tons.. and I took it while I was pregnant and while I am breastfeeding.

Hi C. my name is S. and i can definately relate to what is happening to you. I was recently switched to Celexa from paxil by my OBGYN because i am of child bearing age. I am glad for the switch because i just found out that i am pregnant. I took the paxil through my entire last pregnancy and had no issues with it so i am lucky. But my Ob said that the celexa was a good alternative to the paxil. please let me know if i can offer any other advise and good luck to you.
Best wishes,

If you want to get rid of your anxiety for real you should try Landmark. You can find out more info at www.landmarkeducation.com. It may sound unrealistic, but it will transform your entire life!

You might try looking into bach flower essences. I have a few friends who are currently using them for their kids with ADD and other anxiety conditions and are having great results. And I'm pretty sure they are safe for use during pregnancy.
If you need help finding someone to help you out, I have a few referrals I can give you if you are interested.

Hi C.~
I ge horrible anxiety! I take prozac for it. I went off it with baby number two and I was the most horrible person in the world. With baby number 3 I've decided to stay on it and I'm a completely different person. My doctor says it doesn't effect the baby, infact he'll probably be more mellow because of it. I feel for you and I know what you're going thru. All I can say is you're health is the most important and you dont' want to stres the baby out. I would ask your doctor about taking prozac. I only take a small dosage and it works wonderful (10mg) I actually take floroxitine, which is the generic form of it. Good luck!

I was on Paxil before getting pregnant too. I was not on it for depression, but for what I was on it for, we did not want to take me off of it. My doctor said that it would be safe for me and the baby to stay on it during my pregnancy. So I did stay on my Paxil through my entire pregnancy.
I would suggest talking to your doctor and make sure that it too would be safe for you and the baby and get back on it. It's not worth feeling the way you do, if you can be back on the Paxil.

Zoloft is supposed to be nicer to mamas who are trying to conceive and breastfeeding than Paxil. Definitely talk to your doc about your options. Withdrawal from an antidepressant can be worse than any side effects. Your doctor and you may decide that the risks of your anxiety to your future pregnancy may not be as bad as the side effects of Paxil AND vice versa.
http://safefetus.com/ gives information on medicines that are deemed safe during pregnancy and breastfeeding. It can be confusing, though, since it has given some conflicting information on Zoloft (compared to the info I got from doctors).
(I was prescribed Zoloft while breastfeeding, but after doing my research, and knowing myself and how I've handled depression drug-free at much much worse times, I decided not to take it.)
Best wishes.
