Hi
I have experienced hyperness in my children from Benydryl.
My son is 10 months and devolped a rash 2 days ago so we went to the doctor and the dr said it was just hives but checked him out further and discovered he had an ear infection (his first). Macale has been acting normal and it wasn't for the hives we wouldn't have gone to the dr and found out about the ear infection. The dr prescribed amoxicillin for the ears and OTC childrens benadryl for the hives. But the last 2 days Macale seems wired (generally as it gets closer to the next time to take meds or right after). Last night he was 4 hours past normal bedtime and just non stop all over the house. Anyone else have this effect? Should I be concerned?
Thanks for the info on benadryl possibly making them more awake. Everything you read (and all the medical sites I checked last night) just say it makes them drowsy! Unless he acts really itchy we'll stop the benadryl. Any suggestions for other itch relief? We've done oatmeal bath but he can't spend all day in the tub :-)
Hi
I have experienced hyperness in my children from Benydryl.
My doctor said 99% of children get tired from Benadryl. My daughter happens to be in the 1% that gets wired too. Good luck.
I give my son Zyrtec for his hives!! Hasn't caused hyperactivity where as Benadryl did.
Hi M.
His Being wired is a side effect of the benadryl if you can I would not give it to him five hours before bed. Good Luck :)T.
If he doesn't have the hives anymore I'd stop using the benadryl or atleast before bedtime
