Mastectomy Care Package

I would find out what is most important to her. For me it is my house. Can't stand it to be dirty. Is she the same way? maybe you could come in and clean, laundry, dishes etc.. meals are great! i would also find some comfy house pants and easy off and on shirts. sometimes after a mastectomy women have drains at the surgical site and getting dressed and undressed can be cumbersome. I think that I would also include in the gift basket a calendar (coordinate w/family) of who is available on what day to drive her to the doctor, grocery store etc.. This would certainly ease my mind. I would also include vitamin E oil (for the scar), lip balm, moisturizer, lotion, chocolate, and magazines. What a wonderful group of women you are! Your neighbor is lucky to have such a great group of friends!!

~pre-pay 1 or 2 months of netflix for her.
~a book of forever stamps (to pay bills, send thank you notes, etc)
~paper plates, 'nice' dispossable cups, and cutlery.
~some drinks/snacks, crackers, etc. so when people come to visit there is somethine easy to serve.
~does she like games/boardgames?
~does she like coffee/capucinos? a senseo machine and a couple of bags of the coffe pouches?
~or just coffee from starbucks?
~lavender oil ( and other essential oils)
~can some one take time to drive her around?
~~~one recommendation I make to anyone having surgery is to get some milk of magnesia. post-surgery constipation is very frustrating.

We had one of our bunco friends go through breast cancer a few years ago.

We took turns with food for over a month or so. We had cleaning services come in. We made sure she could laugh so we gave her the trashy gossip magazines. She had 2 younger children so we took turns taking them to and from their regular activities as well as including them with our families so mom and dad could have some time. We went with her to Dr visits, chemo treatments and to try on wigs. Mimi's in Richardson is a good place for wigs.

We also chipped in and sent mom and dad on a weekend getaway to the Gaylord just before the surgery.
