Makeup That Will Keep the Oil from Shining Through

Ever since I had my two children, my face is really oily in the T zone. After wearing my makeup for a couple of hours, I am ready to wash my face and start over. I have tried different foundations, but the oil finds its' way through in about an hour. I have tried sheercover mineral foundation, and it has worked the best, but is expensive. Does anyone know of a foundation I can purchase at the nearest Wal-mart that will stop the shine. If I have someone with proof that something works, it's a little easier to spend the money. Any suggestions would be gteat. Thanks.

What can I do next?

while many people here have recommended mineral makeup, I just wanted to offer my expertise. I develop and manufacture mineral makeup. Be careful what you buy. While many drugstore brands and big name companies are starting to offer mineral makeup, it isn't really mineral makeup. They are just using the buzzword and then filling their products with lots of ingredients reputable mineral brands would never use. Read the labels, always. If you see parabens, talc, petrolatum, dimethicone, polymethyl methacrylate, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, and/or any LAKE pigment such as Red 30 Lake, then this is not the mineral makeup you keep reading about. these ingredients are found in traditional makeup and just increase the chance of irritation. Look for products with pure pigments only, not all these unnecessary fillers. Otherwise you are just buying a product attempting to cash in on the buzz without actually making the necessary changes to the formula to actually create mineral makeup.

Hope this helps.

The best foundation I have ever used is the Beauti Control wet/dry. You can't get it at Walmart but it's about $21 and lasts me about 3 months. I've always felt like my face is sliding off with traditional foundations and definitely need some sort of coverage. With it I use the Beauti Control concealer for problem areas. With the wet/dry you can use it as it, wet it for a little thicker coverage or use a brush for application. My whole office uses it.

Hi M.,
I used to have the same problem. I found that washing with aveno ( I use the clear complextion bar) 2 times daily and I moisturize with an oil free moisturizer in the morning before puting on make up. At night I use oil of olay night cream. I used to think that my skin was too oily to use any lotions but I think that it actually balances it by using oil free face lotions. The one I really like best is dramtically different gel by clinique. You do have to get that from a dept. store, though.

Ok, M. don't laugh....I have some mineral makeup I bought a few weeks ago at Target and used it one time and it just didn't work for me. If you wanted it, you can have it or else I am going to pitch it. You could wash out the little brush and let it air dry (I don't have any skin conditions!) Just thought I'd offer in case you wanted another product to try before spending more money...

M., I use Arbonne Personalizer. Its the best. It also helps from turning your skin orange as the day goes on. I put it under my foundation or you can use it over can also be used during the day to touch up but I never have to. Web site to look ____@____.com.

You should try powder instead of foundation. I use Arbonne oil-absorbing powder, but I think there are cheaper brands. The Arbonne stuff WORKS though, I put it on in the morning before anything else (wear foundation over it). My skin used to be greasy halfway through the day and I don't have that problem anymore. If you know someone that sells Arbonne, you should try it (for what it's worth I do not sell Arbonne and just happened to buy this at a party I went to for a friend - so I'm not just trying to sell you on it).

M.,
There is nothing worse than having your make up come off your face half way through the day. I have a couple of suggestions. First, sometime faces become oily because they are being dried out, using an oil free mosturizer before applying your make up should help, it does two things for you by giving a nice base for the make up to be applied to and also rehydrating your skin, which should help you skin produce less oil. A good face wash helps with that also. As far as make up goes, you have to use a product that is oil free. avoid cream to powder finishes I have found that these types do not work well on oily skin. Also you must use a loose powder with a brush to set your make up, this is essential, I suggest using just a traslucent one that is oil free. When applying your make up if it a liquid use your fingers and not a sponge. Your fingers Dr. Feelgood and it is a mattifying base that makes your face so smooth and flawless. It is about 32 dollars but a little goes a long way. They also have a pressed powder that I use with a brush and I love it, I no longer even wear a liquid foundation and it makes may face appear smooth, even and no shine. I hope this helps, I was in the cosmetic indusrty for may years before I had my children and stayed home.
