Looking for Stupid Hobbies/habits? Just for...fun?

Good Surly Saturday evening to you!!! We are enjoying our first and only week of gorgeous summer weather. It is...truly magnificent.

I am looking for a stupid habit, preferably something I can do with my hands. I've tried knitting and crocheting, having heard that they are relaxing. NOPE. Not relaxing for THIS guy (though I might try again since it's been years). Knitting is more clever of a pastime than I am looking for. My dream stupid habit would be something that involves my hands and not my brain (not literally, of course). It would be something that I could mindlessly integrate into my everyday activities. It would not involve words, or art, or anything else that tantalizes the senses. I REALLY am looking for something that is a mindless action. For example: The pen flick that debate team members do, smoking cigarettes, my mom does this thing with her tongue and lips when she's in complete focus, some folks bite their finger nails, or twirl their hair. I quite like smoking - but it's time to quit. I'd love to find a stupid hobby or habit that is not detrimental to the body or mind, is not gross (bacteria under the fingernails? / picking scabs), or obnoxious (I don't think I should adopt, for example, humming through my nose.)

Thanks in advance!

ETA: Also very open to mindless hobby ideas.

Oh you are just not knitting the right thing. Ya know those silly square cotton dishcloths? It is just knitting no pearling. I used to knit them all the time when I watched my daughter play soccer. She was the goalie, very stressful on a mom, ya know. The knitting kept me from yelling at the refs. :)

Buy a large package of colorful pipe cleaners. Twist them around your fingers, make cute designs, make interesting pencil/pen toppers out of them ........the sky's the limit. Have fun. Post us some pictures of your masterpieces.

I bought like 10 canvases a few years back, i painted some and my daughter painted others, sometimes we take them down repaint them and hang them back up, it works really well to redecorate, it teaches impermanence (which is important) and works the creative juices in the brain.

I know you didnt say art, but this is pretty mindless, since we dont plan on keeping it , but for like 6 months to a year

Coloring. Amazon has some really cool coloring books such as kimono designs, vintage fairies, mandalas, stained glass, etc. I guess it does involve art, but it is so easy to do that it feels mindless.
