Looking for Preschool for Almost 4 Year Old in the Roseville Area

American Montessori Academy is incredible. The teachers have been there forever, the parents are involved and helpful, and the kids are learning at an amazing rate. For those kids who started at 3, you won't beleive how advanced they are already. But class is very supportive and not scary or intimidating. I love the MOntessori teaching method and find it far more effective and enjoyable for the kids than traditonal methods. You can make an appt to go visit the school. Good luck!

I would just like to give my two cents on the topic coming from a former early childhood educator (now stay at home mom to my two boys). There are many wonderful in home preschool programs that are not just daycare. I too was sceptical of in home programs since I was used to myself working in schools however after some research I have found there to be additional benefits to these programs such as lower ratios, family style atmosphere where the mixed age group all learn from each other, and staying with the same teacher for all their preschool years. We live in Lincoln and there is a shortage of preschools in the area so I branched out and looked at in home programs as well and we found a wondeful unique program where my son's teacher lives on a large farm and he is getting all kinds of interesting experiences there in that atmosphere that a typical "school" may not be able to provide. There definitely is a lot of looking to do when choosing either a regular school or in home to find one that is TRULY good quality. I've heard great reviews as well from mom's in my mom's club about Loomis Co-Op, Roseville Community, and Adventure Christian.

Hands down Adventure Christian Preschool is the best. My son is in his second year there. He can't wait to go to school. The teachers are so loving, and the academics is amazing. We could not be happier with Adventure. We just signed up for our third year and are now planning are sending both of our children there for their education. We were planning on doing public. Try First Presbyterian Preschool, they are reasonable priced and my child is thriving there.

I too was going to recommend the City of Roseville. They have pre-schools at many of the elementary schools. The one at Jefferson Elementary is great!

-If you want to stay in Roseville, you might try Maidu or Sargent. They have very nice preschools that are run through the city of Roseville, but are a bit on the pricey sides. I sent both my girls to Rusch Park Pre-school, in Citrus Heights. Loved it, can't say enough good things about it. And the best part is that the cost is very reasonable. They offer MWF classes from 9-12 or Tues. Thurs. 9-12 and like 12:30-3. They only allow 16 students in each class with 2 teachers. These classes fill up the same day you're allowed to register for them and opperate on a 9 month school year - Sept. through May, and they have a couple field trips in there too. It's fantastic. My name is Lysa, I am 45 yrs old, have 3 amazing girls almost 15, 12 & 7 1/2 and have been married for 16 yrs. I too have been blessed to be a stay at home mom. I would highly suggest Loomis Community Preschool. It focuses more on the social and developmental aspect of learning rather than just academics which I believe we are pushing too soon in our society. It is a co-op which does require you to work in the classroom but also provides you with more say so on what is being taught. Did you you know that the current Kindergarten curriculum is the same as 1st grade was 8 years ago? I opted to wait until my youngest was 6 before she entered kindergarten, I'm so glad I did she is now thriving in 1st grade and loves school. Best wishes to you and your family.

I taught preschool to put myself through college, then was a preschool director after college. I was VERY particular about where to send my son. He has been at First Presbyterian Preschool on Sunrise in Roseville for 2 years. I LOVE it there. It is NOT a daycare...hours are only 9-noon, but you can pay extra to have them stay through 1pm and have lunch. There is definitely a difference between this preschool and other "daycare" preschools. Also, I haven't been there personally, but I know a lot of people who send their children to Adventure Church's preschool and they love it.

I'm not sure where you are located at but there are some good ones in Granite Bay. There is the Granite Bay Day School on Auburn-Folsom and I believe the Luthern Church on Douglas has one also.

We have loved the Roseville Community Preschool. It is a co-op so parents need to work one of days your child attends. They do have a couple non participating parent spots if not already taken. Also liked the Maidu preshool.
