Looking for Non Denominational Church in Irving

We moved to Irving in August and I am ready to start over. I moved here to be closer to my job. We are at Beltline and Walnut Hill Ln. I don't know much about the area or it's communities. I and my family really need to connect (if you will) or find the connection of a spiritual home. I do have a spiritual background, but have been away for so long. I am scared as I have not committed myself to church since 2004. I have not ever been away for this long. My life has been primarily focused on everything and everyone else but God. I need a place to heal and not be condemned. Right now my heart is heavy and I just want to find safety with a church.

If anyone has any information of an upbeat praise and worship, bible based church that I can run to, do tell.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I just wanted to say a big thank you to those of you who responded to my request about finding a local church.

My children and I visited Irving Bible Church on Sunday, January, 13, 2008. Although I was nervous going in, I didn't feel overwhelmed. My children and I loved it. Service was great.

Once again, thank you.

There is a church located on Kinwest just north of George Bush Tollway and west of Mac Arthur called Irving Bible Fellowship (I think this is correct). Many of my students have attended that church and their families really like the church for the family friendly atmosphere. They have a lot to offer from what I've heard people say. Good luck in finding the right church home for you and your family. I recently have done the same and understand how you want to find a place you can be happy and your children.

My church isn't in Irving, but it is not very far from you (20 minutes). It is called The Potter's House. We have a children's ministry and youth ministry so you can enjoy service. Our service begins at 8 and 11:30, but I recommend getting there an hour before each service to get your kids checked in and find a good parking spot.

Also on a personal note, I am so glad you are hungering for the Lord, you can never get too far away from Him. Believe me, I have been there myself. He was watching you the whole time.

Dayspring Family Church is AWESOME! My husband and I (married 7 years) have been members there since 1999. We have two boys...14 and 5 weeks. The pastors are great, and the church family is a true family. It is non-denominational, bible based, church. They have an awesome married couples ministry, children's ministry, women's ministry, and men's ministry. It is located at 618 N. Beltline Rd. This is south of 183. Check out the website at www.dayspringfamilychurch.org. Services are Sunday at 8am and 11am (Sunday School at 9:45). We also have bible study on Wednesday evening at 7pm. The married couples meet twice a month, the women's and men's ministries meet once a month. Feel free to respond with any questions. I could go on... and on ...and on... :)

What size church are you interested in?

Both Fellowship and Irving Bible Church and MEGA churches with large church bodies, with multiple services and ministries to plug into.

Don't worry about your time "away". You know that the Lord is always waiting with open arms for your return to your relationship with Him (think the Prodical son story). A church body should be no different. Good for you for admitting that your focus if "off". I admire your honesty, and I find myself in the same situation.

I have found a wonderful home at South MacArthur Church of Christ at MacArthur and Shady Grove (South of 183) for the past 10 yrs. I don't know what your preferences are, but I do know that you would be loved and accepted there, no matter where you've been spiritually.

I hope you find a church home. I've prayed for your direction and situation!

Hi S.,

I'm so glad that you are looking for a church home! What matters is that you are coming back, not that you have been away. I go to Fellowship Church in Grapevine. Its just north of DFW airport off of Hwy 121. It is a dynamic, bible based praise and worship experience. I am a single mother too and belong to a single parent group at church as well. They have been an endless source of strength and support for me. I really hope that you'll come check out one of our Christmas services. We have 9 of them this year, so its very convenient. Also, you can go to our website www.fellowshipchurch.com to learn more information and even watch the sermon on the web. If you would like more information or just want someone to meet you there for your first time, just email me at ____@____.com
I know how hard it can be going somewhere new for the first time, and I would love to help make that experience easier for you.
Blessings, S.
Matthew 11:28-30 "Come to me, all you who are weary and heavy laden and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart and YOU WILL FIND REST FOR YOUR SOULS. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."

Dear S.,
I attend (from time to time) a Universalist Unitarian church in Oak Cliff. I really like it. It is definitely non demoninational, and maybe not bible enough for you. Each UU church is a little different. You might check a couple out. The Oak Cliff branch is small and very dear. I rent a room from them for my yoga practice. The have a small RE program for the kids. It is an open church where all are welcome. You can check out the website www.oakcliffuu.com.
Good Luck,
C.

Irving Bible! I have heard SO many good things about this church. They really desire to love Jesus well and to love people well. They have a lot of incredible support ministries and good youth programs. They hold 4 services on Sunday - I would encourage you to check them out!! Here's the church website: http://www.irvingbible.org and I noticed as I got the link for you that they have a new program called Parenting Alone to help single parents. Bless you as you seek to draw near to God and know that He is drawing near to you!

Hi. There are so many churches in the area! Travis Avenue Baptist Church in Fort Worth has a comtemporary worship at 8 am, I think. When we lived there thats where we went. Now we are in Keller going to First Baptist! Two wonderful churches for re-committment! And they both have great youth groups for your older son!

Hey and welcome to Irving. The best church in Irving is First Baptist in downtown. I know you want a non demominational church but we are not the traditional baptist church. We have worship at 9:30 (for the older folks) and 11am with a contempary band, it is great! Our preacher John Duraham is the best, and really teaches Bible based. We have a great kids program too! Please give us a vist. The next two Sunday we are combining into one service at 10am with no Sunday School, but then in January we start back on the regular schedule. We are even starting a new single parent class in January. Give us a try. The website for more information is http://www.firstirvingfamily.org/

Hello S.,

I personally suggest Calvary Temple church. It is on 161. You can see it from Beltline right off the highway. www.calvarychurch.cc. My husband and I had not been to church since 2003 and probably before then. We recently had a baby and our marriage was not going well. We tried counseling and considered divorce. My sister told me about a series they had at Calvary called "nothing is too Hard for GOD" and the first lesson was "No relationship is too broken for God" It changed our life and changed our marriage in that one day!

Everyone is so nice and welcoming and non judgemental! And the pastors are very funny! :) Good luck in your search!!!

Hi S.. I too live in Irving, and I have a suggestion of a wonderful church that has everything that you described. The name is Irving Bible Church and it's on Kinwest Parkway, which shouldn't be too far away from you. You can take Beltline down to Royal lane and make a right. Then you go down, and the next main road you can turn right on, is Kinwest Parkway. Follow it until you see Irving Bible Church on the left. It's a great place. I just love it there. The pastor is excellent, and the music is good. Your kids will also love it. They have an excellent children's program. I encourage you to try it. You can learn more online about it by searching ibc.org I believe. If not, just do a search for Irving Bible Church and you will reach their website. I hope this helps. I have been attending there for several years and I just love it. There are a lot of different support communities also that might be able to help get connected and uplift you. I wish you the best. God Bless!

wow, this is a God thing...
The funny thing is I never get to check my e-mails lately since I have a 3 1/2 year old and a 3 month old. So I got on here tonight and after almost a year of not opening any of the Mamasource emails I felt compelled to read this one tonight...yours was the very first one on the newsletter!
I think that definitely says something!
You should totally come visit my church. It's called Hope Fellowship Church. It's a non-denominational, come as you are church. We are currently at the Pigeon Hole on Irving Blvd. but at the beginning of the year will be moving right next door.
Our pastor is Dennis King and the people are so welcoming, but you might not think so at first glance...we have quite a few bikers and their families that attend. Let me tell you, they break the stereotype and are some of the awesomest people I know. It's like getting to be with family every week, I love it...and we have a lot of outreach ministry if you are interested.
Okay, I'm sorry this is so long, I got a little carried away. :) You can go here to check it out first - www.thepigeonholeirving.com (there's way more to the church than what's on that website, too.) and feel free to call me for directions and I'll save you a seat! ###-###-####. Hope to see you soon, Merry Christmas! -H. A
