Looking for Non Birth Control Medicine to Help Maintain Regular Periods

Does anyone know of a safe medicine that is not birth control that will keep my periods on track? I don't really want another child, but I don't want to prevent it either. I just need a little help to keep my periods regular, yet don't want to take anything that may harm the baby if I do get pregnant.

What can I do next?

Yes, I would use the Hormonal Changease Formula found at www.herbsfirst.com. It does say to not use while nursing or pregnant, but then many herbs that even help with milk production say that too. lol. I would email them and ask them or just go to your local health food store...I love 'Good Nutrition' off of Beaver Ruin and off of McGinnis Ferry next to the John's Creek Hospital. They can help you out tremendously!

Have you ruled out things like Polycystic ovarian syndrome for why they arent regular? I have PCOS and take metformin. If I don't take it I will not ovulate and have a period at all. It's a simple blood test your ob/yn can do.

Arbonne's Prolief Natural Balancing Cream is the answer. It is bio-identical to what your body makes, so your body knows just what to do with it (unlike synthetic hormones that create side effects). Please contact me at your convenience with any questions. I have been an independent consultant with Arbonne for 4 years as a result of this product helping me. www.pattyd.myarbonne.com

C., You may wish to speak to an herbalist. I'm not a licensed herbalist, or a doctor and this is not to be taken as either type of advice. I know that chaste tree berry is used by many women to be more regular. It's known for helping cycles balance out, but it takes 3-6 months for it to work for many women. Many women take the extract and follow the directions on the bottle. Since they know they'll be taking it for months, many women buy enough to begin with to get them through 6 months.

Some women do find natural progesterone to be helpful, but usually that's because they have a short luteal phase (the length from ovulation to period).

If your physical activity is more strenuous than your body can handle with periods, too, you may need to back off some and eat to your activity level. Don't forget fluids; they are necessary, as is vitamin A foods.

Hope this helps,

You probably have hormone level problems. Dr. John Lee did a lot of research on natural progesterone. He wrote - What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Pre-menopause and also the one on menopause. They discuss hormone imbalance and are for every woman, not just women in menopause. Supplementing with natural progesterone cream (not premarin which is pregnant mares' urine) solves much of women's cycle problems. Most doctors don't study on their own and rely on pharmaceutical companies for information. The drug companies test products in their favor and so most are skewed. You can get natural progesterone cream from this website: www.ineways.com/healthierliving. My contact info is on the site if you have any questions.

Hi C.,

Dong Quai is a natural phytoestrogen that will regulate your periods. It is plant derived and is completely safe for any woman, pregnant or not. Any health food store should have it. Make sure you get a pharmaceutical grade product (avoid GNC, Wal-Mart, Costco and the like) I actually use it in a supplement called Estraval.

It also helps keep the PMS moodiness at an even keel. My husband loves it!!! If you need more info, let me know...

Regards,

M.

Hey You need to go and talk with your obyn and see if a IUD is good for you. I have two childern was not sure if we wanted to have another so we do not want to do anything that would keep us from having other childern. My obyn said that the IUD would be a good choose for me. I have add it for two years (good for 10) I do not have to remeber to take anything daily no weight gain. It took me about two months to get reg. after i got it and now it is like clock work I do not have any problems. I will say that is is about $500. to get it and insurance may not pay for it at all or some or may pay for the whole thing. u will need to check with them. but it is a one time thing for 10 years. I believe they have one out now that is good for 5 and may cost less. Also if you decide that you want another child you can get pregant the same month that you have it taken out unlike coming off the pill. Hope this is helpful.

Natural Progesterone cream works wonders!! Your local health food store should have a reputable brand. Use as directed and your periods should get back on track. Dr. John Lee's Book on Hormone Balance Made Simple is a must for every woman and it will help you in the yrs to come too! It explains "why" your body is doing what it's doing.

The only medications that I know of that regulate periods are birth control pills, but you may want to talk with your PCP or your gynecologist, they may know of something else. Of course, if you are on birth control to regulate your periods, you won't get pregnant, so there is no harm that would come to a baby. Most birth control pills have a great than 99% success rate if taken correctly (ie same time everyday.)

Hi C., about 8 years ago my OB-GYN put me on Provera to regulate my periods. It is not a birth control and it worked great for me. I got pregnant while I was on it, and it didn't harm the baby at all. Thankfully, I didn't have to take it again after I had my first child. You should ask your OB-GYN about it. Good luck!
