Looking for Nanny or in Home Daycare

I live in the Peoria area and will be returning to work at the end of September. I have looked at several Day Care establishments with little hope. I am interested in having someone come to my house to take care of my son Monday-Friday.

What can I do next?

I know you mentioned looking for someone to come to your house, but thought I would write just in case. We live in Peoria and take our son to a wonderful woman. I am not sure if she currently has openings or not, but she came highly recommended by our neighbors who also take their son there. My son is 21 months old. He has been going to see her for a few weeks now. Prior to that, he was home with me. He has been very comfortable going there and is excited to go everyday. We have never had to deal with separation issues I thought we might have because he feels so comfortable there. She keeps the children entertained and busy. I like that my son has a chance to be around other children, which he would not have if he were home. She also provides all the meals and snacks and her rates are really reasonable. She watches children from infants to pre-K, but most of her children are around 1-2 years - I am not sure how old your son is. Just like you, I visited many day care establishements and I literally walked in the door and right back out again sometimes. I did not feel that way visiting her house. It is like a home away from home. She is located near 83rd Avenue and Sweetwater. If you are interested, please send me your email and I will send you her name and number. I did not want to post it for everyone to see because I am not sure if she would want that, but I would be more than happy to share it with you. Let me know.
She is also licensed by the state and follows strict guidelines to ensure the kiddos are safe and well taken care of.

Hi J.,

I felt the same way about all the other daycares I interviewed besides Hello Kiddies, a private in-home daycare. Some of the others made me want to cry that people would actually leave their children in such a sad environment where they weren't really cared for. When I went to Hello Kiddies, I knew that was the perfect place for my then 5 month old son. Another family drove all the way from Chandler for 3 years to take their kids here. It's located at I-101 & 7th Ave.

Hello Kiddies is standardized by the state and inspected like all other daycares. Their house is filled with so much love and warmth. My son loves it there! He is so happy when I take him there and when we come home and he sleeps better. He is a happier baby overall because he is very outgoing and loves to play with other kids even at a young age. They have a curriculum for all ages of what they teach the children and my son has been progressing very quickly in his development since being there. They also teach the kids sign language. Watching TV is very limited which was important to me. And it's like a family. There is an email list of all the families that go there so it's like a community. They really work with you and support you during hard times too.

Anyways, I know you're looking for a nanny, but I thought this might be helpful. Their website is http://www.daycareresource.com/hellokiddies.html. Their phone number is ###-###-####.

Good luck on your search! If you're absolutely looking for a nanny, there's a free website www.sittercity.com with reviews and such.

Take care,
V.

Hi J.,
We have a nanny who comes to our house a couple days a week to care for our daughter. After much searching and interviewing, we were lucky enough to find her. Here are some of the resources we used. www.gonannies.com, www.care.com. There's a fee to join, but we thought it was worth it. Good luck in your search, and congratulations on your son!
