Looking for Good Cattery (Cat Kennel)

I'm in search of a good, caring cattery or cat kennel/boarding facility near north Frisco. I used Pet Medical Center for several years but after they had a major turnover in personnel, it was horrible! Cats were boarded in cages in the same room with dogs & it smelled like the place hadn't been cleaned in weeks. The new personnel were not friendly at all & some didn't speak English so it was impossible to communicate. So I tried Animal Hospital of Frisco. The environment seemed nicer but when we picked up our cat they charged for something they never told me about when I dropped her off & I had a very difficult time getting any money back. Plus my cat was so freaked out when she came home that I have no intention of ever going back there again. My cat is an 8-year-old grey torti, spayed, declawed on all paws, never goes outside except in her stroller or on a leash only in our yard, scared to death of strangers (especially men). I have a trip coming up the end of September when I'm going to have to board her. I really need some good recommendations. Thanks in advance!

What can I do next?

Our vet recommended this facility and we used them for 2-3 weeks during our move. They are located off 380 in McKinney. Our cat was able to roam the cat area and didn't have to be in a kennel. The owners and staff were all very nice and we were able to bring our cat's special bed/toys to make him feel more comfortable. It is more of a home-like setting. Good luck.

It is in Melissa, Texas. If you go, make sure to print directions, it's kind of in the boonies. We take our dogs there and they absolutely love it. They keep cats and other animals. The only problem may be that one of the primary caretakers is a male - Andy. He and his wife Hazel run the place. He is kind and gentle, not loud and abrasive if that is what the cat is afraid of with men.
Good Luck.

Have you thought about hiring a pet-sitter that can come to your house instead of putting your cat in a kennel? I worked for a vet for 8 years and it is very traumatic for a cat, especially one that doesn't like strangers. Maybe a friend, neighbor or relative can come by your house. There are also some insured and bonded pet-sitters too.

Good luck

Stonebriar Veterinary Centre in Frisco at Town & Country and Legacy is great for cats. We had (she recently past away) a diabetic kitty for 9 years and took her there every time we had to be away. They have kitty condos on the second floor overlooking the lobby. The condos are individual sound reducing rooms with glass doors. They never hear the barking dogs (this always freaked out our kitty at other places) They even had piped in music for them. We are friends with one of the vets that helped build the clinic and everything is top notch!

Hi, there-
I work at Stacy Road Pet Hospital right on the Allen/Fairview line. We have an extremely clean and nice boarding facility for cats. They are kept in a seperate room far from the dogs, and they are well cared for. We charge $14.00 per night for cats. Our # is ###-###-####, and we are right off 75 (so not too far.)

Stonebriar Veterinary Centre in Frisco at Town & Country and Legacy has very nice kitty condos you could try. I don't have cats but have been in their office many times. Seems very nice. I don't know what they charge but it would be worth a try. Good luck.

I have used 2 in home care providers in Frisco and they have been wonderful. The cost may be a little more, but your cat would be comfortable in your home and you would only require 1 visit a day unless you opted for a 2nd.

Pals for Paws, Jill - ###-###-#### (last time I used I think first visit was $20) Last time I user her, Jill did all the visits, sometimes her husband assists.

Amore Pet Care - ###-###-#### (new add says $16 per visit with coupon) The owner provided my service, but she does have staff.

They would even walk her in her stroller if you wanted them too. Just specify her fear of men to make sure the care giver is a woman. Both services visited before to meet me and my pets to cover requirements and to get familiar where pet stuff was. I was very happy with both and when I came home all was in order and pets were happy.

We use Petsareinn.com. They send your pet to a host family. Our dog has really enjoyed it. The first time he stayed with a family he had a hard time adjusting and he wouldn't eat. They called us to ask what to do and we were able to get him to eat. Although it is more expensive than boarding, we have been happy with them. On shorter trips we have sent him to Pappy's Pet lodge and liked them also.

Do you not have a trusted neighbor/friend that could drop by once a day?
