Looking for a Pediatrician Recommendations

I'm looking for a pediatrician in the Livonia/Ypsilanti/Ann Arbor or Brighton area. I'm hoping to find one that doesn't feel the need to vaccinate for every potential ailment and medicate for every sneeze and sniffle or at least someone that is supportive of a parents choice not to. Any suggestions?

What can I do next?

Second vote for Dr. Kruger. She listens and is supportive especially regarding vaccination issues and will follow your lead. She doesn't dole out antibiotics at every turn and is a mom of four herself. I found her via the recommendation of my midwife for my unborn child (now 7) and eventually my husband and I both switched over to her because we liked her so much. I have only had to call her once off hours via her service and she returned my call very quickly. She was also the only one who was able to diagnose my daughter's condition when experts in that field couldn't.

Try Primary Pediatrics in Ann Arbor on Plymouth Rd. We see Dr. Garcia and she listens really well to your concerns and doesn't medicate for every ailment. I think they also are open to your concerns regarding vaccinations.

This practice isn't necessarily in the geographic area where you were looking but if you don't have luck with the other recommendations, I take my kids to Beverly Hills Pediatrics which is on Telegraph between 13 and 14 mile (actually located in Bingham Farms - their old office was in Beverly Hills). Our doctor is Rebecca Wasvary and she's been amazing in respecting my choice to vaccinate slowly and selectively (I've opted out of Hep B, MMR until they can locate individual doses for each disease, the yearly flu vaccine and the Chicken Pox - and I do no more than 1 vaccine at a time and require at least 1 month between shots and only vaccinate when my child is absolutely healthy - not even during a common cold - just to give you an idea of my choices). Dr. Wasvary has been incredibly respectful. I think that because I've done my reasearch and also have a nephew who experienced averse reactions to vaccines (I've told our doctor this), she's been respectful of my choices and doesn't pressure or push me. There are more and more doctors out there who are willing to work with you!

We go to Briarwood Family Practice (tied to UofM) in Ann Arbor....while I chose to vaccinate for the childhood diseases, I do not do flu shots and they do not pressure me in any way.
They are fairly anti-medicate for most everything else. They take more of a "let the body do the fighting, not the medicine" approach for many other things. I think my son has had just a couple antibiotics (for obvious things like pinkeye), but most of the time they decide it's viral so just let it go.
I will say they are VERY supportive if you've done your research so you can talk intelligently to them about your care. I am a partner in my family's care and work well with the medical professionals to make good choices.
Having said that, I do not take my son to the doctor for much anyways. He is very healthy and gets nothing more than a few bouts of sniffles every year....I don't know if it's because of the vaccines that we had NO ear infections or any other infectious diseases, but we've been very lucky his immune system is very strong.
