Looking for a Midwife That Works with Hospitals

I just found out i was 6 week pregnant and am looking of a midwife that will deliver out of a hospital. This is my third child and want to do thing a little more natural but want the drugs available if wanted during. I would also be willing to see and ob-gyn that is open to acupuncture and herbs or other alternative medicine.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?™

I did find one thank you for all your help!

I strongly reccomend Diana Buckwalter with South Denver OBGYN, ###-###-####.I had an excellent experience with her helping deliver my twins in December 2007. She is a very posative person. She has so much compassion and is clearly doing what she belongs doing!

I used a CNM through the University of Utah Hospital. They work as one large group of midwives who all work together. They did a great job with the delivery of my son 5 months ago.

I saw the Midwives at Swedish when I had my son. I love them. swedishhospital.com has their info under the women's care section. Congratulations

Hello C.,
I had both of my children with a midwife. My experience is that most licensed nurse midwives work with a physician and through a hospital. Here is a link to a website where you can do a search for midwives in your area:

There are many other sites on the internet with helpful information on natural childbirth. Many hospitals now have rooms set aside for natural childbirth. Maybe your local hospital can recommend a midwife to you that works through their facility.
Best of luck to you.

There is an excellent group of midwives that work out of North Suburban Hospital. They are called the Mountain View Nurse Midwives, 303-450-MOMS. I used to be one of their backup physicians until I moved my practice to Brighton. Hope this helps!

There is a new practice of two midwives that work out of foothills hospital. I am due in two weeks and have been with them for an while now and i am very happy with them. Their practice is called Boulder Nurse Midwives, and they work out of Boulder Womans care. Hope this helps.

I just love my midwife.. Her name is Julie Jones and her office is in Murray.. so it might be a bit of a drive, but I think it is worth it. She delivers at the new hospital - IMC on 5300 S just off of the freeway. Sometimes it's hard to get into her cause she has a lot of people wanting her, but it's good to try. If she doesn't have too many clients due when you are, then she will take you. It might be good to call her now if you are only 6 weeks. :)
She is very friendly, she answers questions thoroughly and explains everything you need to know. She really takes time with you during her appointments. I feel like she really took care of me when I had complications in my first labor, thus we avoided a c section. Good luck in your search!

In Rexburg, there is Targhee Women's Center. They have both OBGYNs and Midwives. I've only seen one of the OBYGNs for a yearly, but I really liked the whole staff. My friend had her baby at the Rexburg hospital with the help of one of Midwives and loved her. I've heard other good things about them too.

I heard the "Jennifers" a team of two Jennifers were cool 'sisters' in the boulder area. I'm sorry I don't have more info. Personally I went to Peoples Clinic in Boulder and the doc Holt had a team of midwifes working with him, had a good experience..
congrats and good luck...
