I'm looking for a great pediatrician, we live on Warner/McQueen in Gilbert so I would ideally like to find one that is close to our house. My main problem with our ped now is that I can never get an appt. same day if my kids are really sick and need to be seen, they can never squeeze us in. We go to Mesa Peds right now. I also feel like we're always rushed when we have well child visits, it would be nice to chat for a bit about my kids and questions I have without being rushed out of there. It would be nice as well to have a doc that is understanding if we don't want to give our kids all of the recommended vaccinations instead of just immediately discounting my concerns and telling me that all of the shots are necessary when I feel they aren't. Thanks so much in advance for your recommendations.
Well this Ped may be too far, but we travel for him because I think he is great. He listens, he is not arrogant, he doesn't rush us out and he is good with my children. Dr. Glen Garner at East Valley Pediatrics: ###-###-####. You can always get a same day sick and there are 4 other doctors there in case Dr. Garner is off or too busy. They are located at Higley and Southern.
Healing Hearts/Dr. Elizabeth McKenna - ###-###-####. She has an office in Chandler. I've been taking my girls to her since my oldest (9yrs) was an infant. I love her!
(I'm not sure on her vax point of view as my girls have always gotten them on schedule. Just an FYI)
We go to Desert Shores Peds. They have 2 locations: Gilbert (Chandler Hts. & Higley and Chandler (Chandler Hts. & Alma School). Phone is ###-###-####. Although we've not had to do a same day sick appt; we have never been rushed during a well visit. We are always there for at least a half hour with either the doctor or nurse practioner going over everything we can think of. They return phone calls and will call at night to check up too!
We go to Pax Lumena Peds, in Chandler, by Chandler Regional Hospital. The Dr is Edward Madrid. He's great, very personable, doesn't rush rush rush. He's almost always has a PA or NP working with him, so, You can usually get same day appointments.
We used to drive up from Casa Grande, and have been using him for my sons whole life, 6 years.

I have two kiddos (almost 5 and almost 2) and we go to Dr. Mark Gentile. He is at Val Vista/Williams Field. I love him because he has 5 (i think) of his own kids, he's very calm and never pushy. He will always make suggestions (such as around 12 months start getting rid of the bottle, around 15 months make sure the pacifier is gone, etc), but he really respects parents' choices on everything, in my opinion. Only ONCE in 5 years have I not been able to be seen same day if my kiddos are sick, and I never feel rushed during well checks. I'm sure if I had a hundred questions, he'd stay and answer every one of them.
His practice has gotten bigger since we've been there 5 years, recently bringing on another MD, Dr. Tina Liao. Dr. Gentile usually only does well checks. The other dr and PAs do the sick visits. But they are all great, and if you ever had one that you didn't care for, you just ask to see someone else. No big deal. Dr. Liao and one of the PAs, Steve Snesko--we LOVE 'Dr. Steve' too--do the well checks too sometimes, but I request Dr. Gentile or Steve.
