Looking for a Good Pediatrician in Either Glendale or Peoria

Is anyone really happy with their pediatrician? I am looking for maybe a smaller office that has time to discuss my questions and establish a relationship. I would like a doctor that is pro-breastfeeding, very knowledgeable and experienced, and maybe a little partial to a natural health approach. I have never been to a naturopath but I think I would feel better with an MD. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!!

What can I do next?

We went to Cactus Childrens Clinic and saw Dr Ojha until we had to take our youngest son in (he was not even a month old) and was retracting and breathing rapidly. We saw a different doctor there because it was a rush and she was HORRIBLE. Basically blamed me for getting my son sick. Anyway, I asked her to test him for RSV and she said he didnt have it but, she would test him to have me relax. The next night we had to rush to the er because in his sleep he was breathing 72 breaths per min which is way to much. Anyway, he had rsv and was in the hospital for three days. The doctor office called me that next monday to give me the test results from their test and it was positive of course. I wrote a letter to the office manager but, decided even though I LOVED dr ojaha I couldnt go back there because my instincts as a mother were taken for granted from that doctor and made me feel really guilty. (we had been in the doctor office quite a bit with our youngest for weight checks all doctor orders and the "mean" doctor said that if we didnt have him in here so much he wouldnt have gotten sick. Which may be true but, if your staff who I trust are requesting us to come in I felt I needed too) So, long story we are at Great Destinations and Dr Prentice is WONDERFUL!!!!!!!!!!! They are off 79th ave and Union. Dr Ojaha at Cactus Childrens is amazing and we do miss her very much. Good Luck.

My kids pediatrician is Dr. Irwin at Northwest Clinic For Children. He is awsome. The office is located at 33rd Ave and Greenway, and the phone number is ###-###-####. He has been my son's dr since he was 1 1/2 (now almost 3)and is also my almost 1 year old and has been since birth. A friend of mine actually referred me to him, he had been her dr when she was a baby/kid and is now her kids' pediatrician, and is all of her friend's and family members' pediatrician. Where ever you go, don't go to Arrowhead Pediatrics. You never see the same dr. In my son's 1st year he never once saw the same dr.

I take my kids to Cactus Childrens Clinic next to T-Bird hospital 55th and T-Bird. Love it. We have Dr. West and he really listens and take the time needed. My kids actully like going to see the Dr. All the Dr.s and N.P.'s and nurses are great. Good luck with this personal decision. Go where YOU (mommy) feels is the best.

I take both of my children to Dr. Amor Villareal located at 43rd Ave & Bell. She has always been so patient with me whenever I have questions and she takes more than enough time each visit to make sure things are going well. The office number is ###-###-####. Give her a try...we love her!!

I go to a naturopath, so I can only recommend him. As far as MDs go, I haven't had any luck. It is worth the money to see a naturopath in my opinion. Why would you feel better with an MD? NDs are VERY well trained. We are required to know both aspects of medicine (natural and allopathic) and put in as much time as an MD in school....you can trust a licensed ND!

Dr. Matthew Baral, ND - Southwest Naturopathic Medical Center 8010 E McDowell Rd #111. ###-###-####. (sorry, its scottsdale!) He has both private and student shifts. I prefer the private shift with only him, but if you want to save some money, you can go during student shift. I would go to private for first appt. so you can spend the time with him and get to know him. Ask front dek when you call for whichever shift you want.
I highly recommend you give him a try. He has some suggestions for MDs that he works with as well, so you could "share" care. You may want to ask aout just setting up an appt to meet him, so you can decide whether or not he is what you are looking for. Knowing his personality, I would think he would happily do that.

A little about me: I am a naturopathic medical student (in my final year!) with a 2 month old son.

I love love love Cactus Children's Clinic at 55th & Thunderbird! Dr Vargas (male) and Dr Ojha (female) have been my favorite so far but I have no complaints about any of the doctors. The nurse practitioner Krystal is my favorite but she is leaving the practice next week and moving to Chicago :(

Hope this helps!
