Looking for a Good Obgyn in the Centerville/dayton Area

I'm looking for a good obgyn in the centerville/dayton area - I had a wonderful male obgyn before we moved here from oregon. He had a great bedside manner, was willing to chat with you about anything and everything, and really knew what he was doing. I credit him with my successful c-section and virtual lack of pain afterwards. I would love to find another obgyn that has those qualities. If anyone could recommend one, that would be great! I need to find one before the school year ends and our insurance ends with it! Thanks!

What can I do next?

Dr Hemmelgarn and Dr. Imbody are both very good! I use Hemmelgarn and love her and about 4 of my friends go to Imbody and they all rave about him.

Dr. Horlacher! He is so calm and kind. He really helped me with the birth of my third child. My husband said I looked at him like he was an angel when he told me what to do during labor. My recovery was swift with no complications.

What realy made me like him was -- he listened to me during my appointments. When I told him that unless he absolutely had to I didn't want to be induced. (yuck!) -- he understood and let me go almost 3 weeks late (although he did check on me everyday) before I went in to labor on my own.

He is very kind and his staff is awesome.

I also like Dr. Hemmelgarn, but if bedside manner is a priority, I'd recommend her partner, Dr. Buckreus. I had one of my appointments with him and he also assisted with my c-section. He has a good sense of humor and makes you feel at ease. H

emmelgarn is more efficient. Quick appointments. In and out. No long waits in the waiting or exam room, which is good.

I felt like I was in good care and there were no complications with my pregnancy or c-section but I did feel a little uncomfortable talking to her about some things. For instance I felt that the baby was breech, but she insisted without checking that it had probably turned so I didn't bring it up again. She did do an exterior exam (finally!) at my last visit then called for that ultra-sound machine. Guess what! My daughter was breech. I had a c-section scheduled for the next week.

I like Dr. Lori Hemmelgarn. Her partner is Dr. Buckres. (sp?) They are located near the intersection of 725 and Wilmington in the Bellbrook/Centerville area.

I like that you pick one doctor - the other is a back up. You do not rotate. They have an ultrasound machine in the office - so it is available for quick checks on things. They also have a baby monitor - again, it is there in case something needs to be checked.

They go to Kettering - I love love Kettering!

DAYTON OBGYN!!! - at Miami Valley Hospital and also in Centerville on 48. The best. I can personally attest to Drs. Imbody and Thesing. You will love either... and their nurses.

On the flip side, I do not recommend Far Hills OBGYN. Though I loved the nurses, the doctors came across impersonal. One of the doctors made a point of telling me that he was one of the high end car drivers. After my first baby, the doctor seemed like he didn't even know me. It was notably odd.

Dr. Art Altman at Kettering Hospital is fabulous! The number there is ###-###-####. I typically prefer female doctors, but I don't know what I would have done without Dr. Altman :)

E., I have seen my male obgyn for over 10 years or so. He is a very personable doctor and has never made me feel rushed. He gives me as much time as I may need to be sure I am comfortable. Their practice just opened a beatiful new office in Centerville. His name is Dr. Liam Duggan and is with the Contemporary OB/GYN practice. He is the only male doctor there and I can also say I really like all of the female doctors as well. Their phone # is ###-###-####. Best of luck.

I am new to this site. I am a proud mom of 2 girls, 6 and 4. I work part time at a furniture store and I am in the "MOPS" (Mom's of pre-schoolers) leadership at my church. I have been married for almost 14 years, but I don't feel that old. :)

I have been using Contemporary Ob/Gyn. in Centerville. Dr. Liam Duggan is very good with the bedside manner thing. He did one of my C-sections and I was very pleased. I have been seeing them for 17 years. There are also 4 female doctors in the practice. I have met each and really liked Dr. Amy Byerly. She did my 1st C-section. They also just moved into a great new building and it is much nicer than before. I think they have nice staff also.
Hope this helped,
J.
