Locking up Medications?

You could buy one of those black boxes that you use for documents that lock with a key. They sell them almost anywhere. I bought one at Menards for less than $20 and it fits easily on a shelf or under my bed. I keep my medications, including Tylenol and any kind of cold meds, on the top shelf in a kitchen cabinet. Of course, this depends on how your cabinets are placed. And I know what you mean about children getting into everything. I have an 18 month old and don't yet know if I will be finding a new place for meds sooner than later. BTW the worst place to keep any medications is in the bathroom. The humidity can change the effectiveness.

Are they attracted to the bottles or are you just looking for a safer place for the medicines?

You could always put them on the top shelf of a cabinet in your kitchen. This is only really effective if they do not know what medicine is (otherwise the risk is even greater because they might try to climb up onto the counters and get into the cabinets).

We always kept medications on a high shelf in the kitchen, in a plastic basket so they are out of sight when the door is open. The shelves are pretty high - too high for a preschooler to reach, even standing on the cabinet (not that they ever tried that! But just to give the visual.)

We did that with all of our cleaning supplies too, actually, rather than use cabinet locks. I didn't want anything toxic in the bathroom where the kids spend more unsupervised time and where they are more likely to be in the cupboards looking for their own toothpaste and things.

I have my medicine in the hall closet-I bought a cheap 20.00 back of the door hanging shelves and attached it to the inside of the closet door-put the medicine on the top shelf and it is out of sight. Even if he finds it he cant even reach it with a step stool-

We used one of those magnetic tot locks on ours. You can always hide the "key"
