An ochre yellow would look lovely with the dark chocolate colors. What I would suggest is typing "brown leather couch" into the search field on Pinterest, it will bring up a lot of images that may give you a good color palate. I would also visit the paint store/section and grab a bunch of the booklets they have that show rooms and color palates for inspiration.

Practically anything can go. You may want a lighter color to lighten up the room since the furniture and floors are dark. Butternut, sage green, etc. I'd go to the paint place and just pick swatches that draw you. Bring them home, see what you like. See about getting a sample color and take it from there. :)

Dusty blue/greyish walls would go great with that color scheme. The dark brown would accent it nicely.

You could also go with a light beige or stark white and your furniture and any accents (pic frames, lamps) will stand out better. I would also throw a splash of red, like a fuzzy red rug, in for some effect.

You can also go with taupe walls and throw in white and red accents around (pillows, lampshades).

Try www.favoritepaintcolorsblog.com. It is a blog of real rooms people have painted and posted to the blog. Great photos and not the fakey magazine pics. You can really see what the color will look like in your house. You can also search by color family.
For what it's worth, I have dark greenish brown couches and will have dark wood floors. I will be painting my LR Believeable Buff by Sherwin-Williams. You can see it on that blog.
You can also search Pintrest for ideas. Totally addicting!
Happy Painting!

Something light. I might go with cream (our walls are cream) with colorful accents. We have red curtains, for example.

What a beautiful color palette to start with...I love browns. Anything warm would look lovely...a nice yellow or orange (not thinking pumpkin, more like ochre or a burnt autumn color), or a yellowy-cream. If it were me I would probably do a light sea-foamy type rich green (NOT leaning towards blue...I don't like the way blue and brown look together!).

With so much brown in the room I would truly look for something that was a cool color on the walls to add some nice contrast. I would do a cream or taupe color. But I like matte and muted palettes where some like vivid colors and contrast.

It really does come down to what colors you want your palette to be. If you like these colors and they work well then you need to decide what colors you want to add to the mix.

go look in your closet and see what colors you gravitate to. No joke. I love blues and greens. (with my browns) in my living room we painted a color called crouton which is like an eggshell color but with more color in it. We also did an accent wall in a dark brown but I want it darker. in the family room/kitchen which is open to the living room as well we did a bright blue. Similar to a tiffany box but more blue less green in it. I love it. make sure to not do a matte finish. I know it is really on trend but you can't scrub something off that scuffs the wall without taking off paint with a matte finish. go eggshell finish or glossier. have fun!

Just about anything g goes with brown.
What about a mustard/golden color?
Or a brick reddish orange?
Depends on connecting rooms (if applies) and the overall feel & colors inthecrest of your home.

Pick a nice light color or your room will be too dark and heavy. Look at the accents you have and want in the room and then pick a color that compliments (not matches) them and then go to the paint store and look at the rainbow of colors available and see what you are drawn to. Then get the paint sample and paint it on the wall (the little paper block doesn't help) Paint it close to the couch so you can see the color of the couch, floors and paint in a well lit area. Live with it about a week and then decide. You may want to pick a few different colors and try them all in blocks along the same wall. Good luck!

WELCOME TO MAMAPEDIA!!!

look at the artwork on your walls - is there a color there that "catches your eye"??? if so - use that on one wall and the other walls a neutral cream color...
