Lightweight/Umbrella Stroller Recommendations..

My 10 month old son is starting to outgrow his Bjorn as well as my back strength and we need something to take him back and forth (four blocks each way) from his daycare that is compact enough so we can leave it there. Looking for recommendations for a lightweight/umbrella stroller. Thank you!!!

What can I do next?

I have a Chico one and i love it. it has one hand close and open and pretty good storage, take it downtown all the time. It also reclines and all at a pretty good price.

I have a Maclaren Umbrella stroller that I am selling. It is only 8 lbs and folds easy with a carrying handle.

We keep the Jeep umbrella stoller in the car, it is a GREAT umbrella stoller I think it is 29.99 at Babies R Us. I raved about it so much that my mother-in-law also bought one for when the kids are at her house. They have a moveable canopy so you can keep the sun out of your childs eyes, and bags on the side to hold little things. We love it. I have a pink one and she has a black one, Walmart also sells it.

I completely agree with Jen. The Volo is the best single stroller I have purchased and Maclarens are made extremely well!

We've got the chicco as well and LOVE it. I am 5'7" and it's just a tad too short for me, but not bad. If I were any taller though it woudl be uncomfortable, probably, so keep that in mind. If you are under 5'7" it will be fine.

Maclaren Volo. I have a similar stroller, different brand (Swan, I think? It's really nice but not as light as the Volo), and it was worth every penny. If I had to do it again, I would have saved the $ on the fullsize stroller and gone for a high-end umbrella from the beginning with child #1. The addition of the small basket and sun/rain shield take the umbrella concept to the next level and make it an all-around usable, compact, versatile option.

Whatever you do, don't buy the $20 Oshkosh umbrella stroller I bought for temporary use while on vacation. Squeaky, cheap, hard to roll, hard to turn.

If you want cheap and no frills yet durable, I bought the simplest one I could find at Target for $11 and it has been through a lot. I even bought a second one for my new baby and they work just fine.

I have a McClaren Volo and I love it. It is super light, super easy to fold, and best of all, it has a 55 lb weight limit so you can continue to use it when they are older. My son is 3 and still fits in it well. It was about 90.00 but the quality is soooo worth it. It strolls like a dream and turns on a dime. I had a Graco stroller before and hated it.

I don't know why not having a recline seems to be such a big deal. My son would never fall asleep in a stroller anyway. And, no you can't put any bags on the handles......it only weighs 8 lbs!!! You aren't supposed to do that with any stroller, it's not safe.

If you want something cheaper, the Chico and Combi are very nice, and the Jeep stroller as well, but if you have a larger child, I def reccommend the Volo. I bought mine when my son was 2 and about 30 lbs so there really was no choice. The others would have only lasted me about a year. The Jeep one is very nice for the price, but the seat is very small, making me wonder if even a normal size child would fit in there very well.

If you don't mind a more expensive stroller, I really recommend a Maclaren stroller. We have the Quest ($199) and it's so lightweight - about 12 or 13 lbs. I can pull it out of the trunk and assemble it with one hand while I'm holding my son with the other. It's very compact, as well. I'm sure the other strollers Maclaren makes that are less expensive ($99) are also fine. It's a great product.
