A freind shared a FB silly story, about an elderly woman who though her car, which she had left in theh parking lot of a store was in the process of being stolen because she saw 4 teenage boys in it. so she pulled a gun on them and screamed for them to Get out of the car which they did, and come to find out it wasn't her car, it belonged to the teens and she had just mistakenly thought it was hers. It was funnier on FB,

I also had a co worker share a story about one night driking in college and walking home to her rented house going in the unlocked back door and falling asleep in what she thought was her bedroom but was actually a totally different house. This story maybe not so funny, but got me thinking
Someone some where must have some great true stories along these lines of mistaken identity.
What's your story?

Bought some chocolate cupcakes one morning and when I got outside walked up to the first black 4Runner and realized I left the window down partially xnd my hands were full..,couldn't get to my keys so I shoved the cupcakes through the window. My key fob unlocked the Black 4runner behind me! Doh!

So embarrassed I just got in my car and left no cupcakes for me that day!
And there was no alcohol involved

Hi VM-

I had actually forgotten ALL about this...but before going through my separation and divorce...drinking had become a concern. My now ex was away A LOT on business...but even when he was home, he would stop off at a local watering hole...get tanked...and then drive home (yite).

At this point, I was going to alanon...and one of their suggestions was to 'detach... with love'...so I was not making this an argument. I made sure kiddos were in bed...and often I was in bed as well by the time he was home.

Anyway...as time went on, I figured that this was truly a potentially dangerous situation. The bar was not far...but he was a DWI waiting to happen...

SO...one night, I had one friend stay with kiddos...and another drive me to the bar. I drove his car home to our house.

He never spoke about it...nor did I...

I guess the good news (?) is that he came home generally from then on...(and did his drinking there)

**sigh**

Maybe not so funny after all...

**sigh**

Michele/cat

I do still wonder what happened when he came out of the bar...looking for the car that was not there...

It remains a funny spectacle...at least in my mind

Ahh yes... When we first closed in our house in 2008, I was at work and told my hubby to go to the house, he came to my job and got the keys that I got from our realator earlier that day. So in our neighbor hood a lot of the houses look alike, and he only seen the house a couple of times, I was the 1 who did all the stuff... So he calls me in a panic, apparently, he went on the wrong street and thought this house was ours, it was him and his uncle, trying to unlock a door that wasn't ours, and this lady who was in the house called the police and told them 2 black guys were trying to break into her house... They were even trying to open the fence... So the police came, and he was trying to tell him that this was his house, and the woman was telling him that she has been living there for over 15. Years.. so he called me and I talked to the police and gave them our address, and they all went over there and wala... The keys worked, he said the police were laughing at him, and I was lmao too... We still bring it up.... And laugh....lol

I have a friend that called me a week into Dec. she felt overwhelmed getting her Christmas up, did not even like the stuff she owned and she knew this is one of my businesses.

Usually we decorate homes, right before Thanksgiving, if people are out of town, or right after Thanksgiving.

When I drove up to her house, I noticed the Scarecrow in the front yard, the pumpkins around her mail box, and the corn cob wreath on her door. So I gathered all of this up and took it to the porch. I rang the bell, no answer, knocked, I thought she must be in the back yard, so I opened the door, stepped in and called out her name.

This is when I realized, this was NOT her house!

I had only been there once before and this street and the location of this house was just like hers on this block.

I ran to my car and got the heck out of there and then noticed the correct street. I am a Hispanic woman who lives in Texas, I am lucky to be alive!

When I told my friend what happened, she laughed so hard she was crying.
I bet that person thought, wow, thay must really want my fall decorations put away.

Just last month I parked my car (blue Ford 500) and walked into the grocery store. walked out, headed to my car. just as i got to my car, getting ready to click the remote I stop in the middle of the road and say, wait, didn't I park on the right side of the row? I look at the license plate of the car I'm getting ready to try and open and realize it is NOT my car! I turn and face the other side of the row and sure enough, parked exactly across the row is MY blue Ford 500.

Nothing big, but I love it when we are someplace with lots of adults around, and my 3 yr old will just hug some random adult's leg, thinking it is me or my husband. He did it for the first time a few weeks ago to a lady at church, and then again last weekend when we were at an engagement party. He ran up to this guy, hugged his leg for about a minute, and then when the guy reached down to him to dance with him my son just had this really shy look on his face, stone-cold face but wide eyes, and just looked like, "What the heck did I get myself into?" It was pretty cute.

When my husband told me what I am about to tell you - I thought it was something straight out of a movie, LOL!

My husband recently went to MLB spring training with his brother and a friend. They had rented a new Chevy sedan and wanted to hit the town one night. They used valet to park for dinner. Afterwards the valet asked which car and jokingly they answer "The lambourghini."

So (hahaha) everyone laughs and the valet comes back with a Toyota Tundra pick-up truck. The men exclaimed that they came in a Chevy Cruze and that was not the right vehicle.

The valet was embarrassed and said that he has never picked up the wrong vehicle, apologized, and brought out their car.

About 20 minutes later the guys are on their way to the bar and my BIL is complaining that the valet adjusted the seat wrong and that they aren't supposed to to that. My husband went to grab his wallet from the center console and asked his brother if he started smoking because there was a pack of cigs on the dash.

It was at that moment that the men realized they were driving someone else's car!

They rushed back to the restaurant in hopes of getting the right car FOR REAL this time. All of their belongings were in the trunk of their rental car, along with all of their golf clubs and flight tickets.

Thank goodness, the mess was cleared up when they arrived and they got the right car back once and for all! They were understanding with the valet, and agreed that even they did not realize it wasn't their car until later on. It was the same model, same color, and also had rental stickers on it!

Anyway, that's my husbands story!

While waitressing I had a man FREAK out on me at one point. He thought I was his girlfriend who was supposed to be 3000 miles away on the other side of the country. He didn't even realize I was a real waitress... He thought I was playing a joke on him... And half dragged me out of the restaurant. Boy was HE mortified when he realized his mistake. Saw a pic, and YES we could have been twins separated at birth. He didn't ACTUALLY believe me, though, until he called Ralleigh and his girlfriend answered on the first ring.

What's the question? :P

I have one "wrong" story I can think of: When I was a child, I called my grandpa when we was at work. I talked to a different old man instead for a half hour. It was the wrong number but he was so entertained by us (my brother got on the phone, too) that he just stayed on the line. We kept not believing him that he wasn't our grandfather, and kept telling him that he was joking... (My grandfather was in a meeting at the time of the call)

BTW, old lady not "with-it" enough to know what her car is should not have a gun...

Also, some drunk stories should always be kept to oneself. Really, I'm shocked at what people will admit about themselves. Being drunk does NOT mean you are on the same playing field as other people that have been drunk in the past or those that drink. You gotta be a certain level of plain stupid to do some things, drunk isn't a 100% excuse, and admitting that one was THAT drunk in the first place is pathetic alone.

We had been grocery shopping, but we didn't normally shop at that store. When we came out to the parking lot we went to what we thought was our mini van and quickly realized it wasn't our van. So we're looking all around the area and we don't see our van. So we're thinking the owners of the other van maybe took our van by accident and I'm starting to freak out a little worrying about the carseats and how we're going to get home to get my daughter from school and so on. Turns out it was on the other side of the parking lot and the funny thing is the lot wasn't even full. I was so relieved though!
