JFF- What Is Your Favorite Game?

I don't know why I just thought of this, but I used to play parcheesey (sp?) all the time with my parents.

I love some scrabble, solitaire, and poker (5 card).

My kids new favorite is Uno.

I also remember betting pennies with my grandmother, playing up and down the river (I can NOT remember how to play, but I swear she used to cheat and leave me broke!)

I love games, and I don't play enough of them. I kind of hate most of my kids games... connect 4, memory cards, the ladybug game, etc...

What are yours and your family's favorites??

So What Happened?

@Lucky, thanks, I'm feeling a little better, but my 8 year old woke up at 5am throwing up, and our heat's not working (of course!) I can only laugh... it can't get much worse ;)

I host a girls game night once a month and recenlty found a new game that I LOVE. It's called Spontuneous. I bought it off of Amazon. The game says that it's for older kids, but it could easily be tailored to younger kiddos.

I love all card games! My kids love Uno, and I love to play that with them. Texas Hold'em is a favorite of mine. I also love Scrabble, but I get frustrated because my husband usually wins, and I'm an English teacher. It just doesn't seem right. ;)

Oh, I just read through the answers, and they reminded me - Rummy is great, and I also LOVE Spades!

I just learned Mancala...it is the game that Cheryl O. was referring to. I love strategy. My husband has played it his whole life and just taught the kids and I...

My daughter is actually getting really good she's beating us both all the time now. My son wins randomly because he isn't so worried about the strategy part he just trying to get the colors!

Uno and we used to play Taboo a lot.

As far as vidoe we love Little Big Planet and for my DS I'm obsessed with Quest Trio.

ETA: My daughter has also recently got into Rumicube...too many numbers for me. But it's helped her with math a little. Since we make her add them up.

Also Santa bought little man Uno Moo...and I'm so ready to play it! Looks like fun for my guy.

Mine is Monopoly or Sequence.

My daughters favorite game is "How many times can I get out of bed before I go to sleep, and how many excuses can I make for why I am out of bed."

I will say she is very good at this game. My favorite excuse right now is, "I got sompthink in my eye."

My son is 8 and loves card games and board games, video games, oh wow, anything game! His fave is Uno too, but I recently got him Phase 10, don't know if you've heard of it, I really am surprised at how many ppl have never heard of it, but it's a great card game, I have a ton of fun playing it with him and my nephews when they come over. You have to complete 10 phases and each phase gets a little harder than the last, you make sets of 3 and runs of however many, like Rumi really. He's had a ton of fun with Sorry sliders, and still loves Trouble! something about that pop, pop, pop that kids really enjoy..Idk what it is cuz it annoys me, but it's worth it to see how much fun they have :) Idk how much video games you play or what systems you might have if so, but I know that the Wii offers several game that cater to game nights, they have tons of your fave classic board games, carnival games and such, and my son looooves the Wii..but we got the Kinect now for the xbox and he's so stuck on it..But one game he really loved for the Wii was Epic Mickey, it was a great learning game in ways.
Hope you get some good ideas..and hey, even if you don't like all the games, atleast you get to have fun trying them!!

I grew up playing Gin rummy and cribbage so those are my all time favorites. I can't hardly get my husband to play with me since I win most of the time. I keep telling him it takes practice and experience but he's not buying it. Other favorites - Backgammon, Parcheesi, Life (but not with the new board game/rules because it dumps too much money in the game), Careers (great for not too much thinking so pairs well with date night wine drinking).

We got a new game recently - Snorta - and that's pretty darn funny so I highly recommend that to people. It's fun for both adults and kids. It involves making animal sounds as an integral part of the game so how can you go wrong.

Apples to Apples - we got it in 2009 and haven't opened it yet...maybe we will this year!

My kids love Monopoly...my daughter is getting the Elexctronic one for Christmas because she says it will make her life easier :). Oh to be 8!

LOVE Uno and Sorry. Probably because all 3 of my kids can play them on their own...so it's a for real game and not mom or dad helping one kid.

My favorite as an adult is pictionary--or maybe WAS pictionary. I haven't played it since my mom passed away. We were the pictionary QUEENS!! Neither she or I could draw worth a flip, but we were smart enough to start guessing just based on the category. The category could be "place" and she'd draw a straight line and I'd yell "Michigan Avenue" and I'd be right. My dad and brother would be so mad! We saved many of the drawings with the answer written on the page. I like to go back and look at them and wonder, "how in the world did we guess that?"

Good times!
