JFF- Did You Gain the Marriage 10 or So?

A lot of my friends who recently got married are complaining of their weight gain right after their wedding. I know I sure did! My wedding was a destination wedding in September, and we had the reception back home exactly a month later in October and I had gained 10 lbs in a month!
I dress I picked out for the reception barely fit!
I think this is pretty normal and happens often after the stress of a wedding.
Did it happen to you too?

What can I do next?

No, I stayed very slim until we had kids a few years later. I'm 25 lbs. more than I was when we got married, but thankfully because I was so slim to begin with, I'm not overweight. Just lumpier than my old self. :)

The marriage ten... the baby ten... (okay maybe more than ten)... the divorce ten... the dating again happy weight loss... the hit my 40s ten... the re-marriage ten... the hit my 50s ten... the ohmygawd I have a teenager ten... the menopause ten (with hot flashes)... I'm guessing there are at least ten more coming!

And I am (mostly) joking here. I haven't really gain THAT much over the years!

Only difference is I lost all mine... lol

Now if i could only get him motivated to get healthy again :(

Nope.
I kind of see it as my responsiblity in staying sexy to my husband to maintain the body that he's always known me to have. (He could care less, BTW.)

Haha Yes, me too.

Have you heard that old saying? Something about "fatter after the wedding equaling a happy marriage?" Not sure about that O. though...maybe it's just a way to make us feel better?!

I wish I only gained 10, I put on about 25 which just makes me a curvy vixen instead of a skinny well toned one. Hubby loves the curves and the extra weight on me. So I won't complain. I'm still in a good range for my height and age.

Nope, I gained 5 lbs since the wedding (in June) but only because I wasn't eating right BEFORE the wedding because I was so stressed!

My husband, however, replaced his 6 pack with a mini keg ;) It's SEXY!

The opposite actually happened to me, but I think it was because we got married right out of college. When I started cooking instead of eating dining hall food I dropped a few pounds. My husband and I also went to yoga classes together all the time for the first 4-5 years of our marriage (before baby #1). I'm pregnant right now, so I obviously weigh more now, but before I got pregnant I think I was 5-10 pounds lighter than I was when we got married 7 years ago.

Sorry, but no. I haven't gained even 10 since the wedding in 1989. I still fit in my size 8 wedding dress. I just tried it on for my daughter last week.

I wish it was only 10...but from all of the stresses and having 3 kids in 6 years (I know it's one every 2, but still)...it has just been a mess. I'm working to get it off. Need to get my tail back to WW meetings, they make such a difference.

But I think it's normal...and to be honest, my husband doesn't want me skinny, skinny. He likes his girls "thick" - lol

he did. when people ask how he's doing, he says fat and happy. His friends and relatives tease him about what a good cook i must be. I think we just relax a bit after settling down. There are also many more nights spent at home on the couch instead of out dancing till 2 am.

The marriage 20 for me!! Very sad. Rather than going to the gym anymore I just sat around with my man and watched TV. Wow!!

It's gone now, luckily!

Not until after my second daughter was born. I have put on 15lbs after 22 years, almost 23 years of marriage. Considering I was extremely thin when I got married I am ok with it.
