I recently had my IVF transfer Sat. 2-10-07. I had cramps(did not feel like menstrual) for a couple of days after the transfer. Then, this morning I woke up with the same menstrual cramps that I generally experience 7 days before I start my period. I am just worried now that I am going to start my period a week from today. Did anyone else experience menstrual cramps 8 days after their transfer? I am going on Wed. for my blood test to find out if I am pregnant. I have been real positive until today. Now, I am about to drive my husband crazy. Thanks for your input.

What can I do next?

I didn't have IVF...but I do know that when the egg attaches to the wall of the uterus it will cause a cramp. I experienced cramping too, and I have b/g twins. Wish you the all best!

I never had IVF but have had 3 children and lost 5 early on. Try not to let the cramps worry you, if you had not had IVF and got pregnant you could still get cramps. With some that I lost I got cramps and others I did not. Good luck on Wednesday!

For what it's worth, at the beginning of both of my pregnancies I felt like I was about to start my period. Even though I was "late" I put off the pregnancy test because I just KNEW I'd start....

I am sorry you are worried. I did not have IVF, so you may not even wish to hear from me, but I did experience A LOT of cramping when I got pregnant. That is what prompted me to go to the OB/GYN, I thought something was wrong, when I was really feeling the implantation of my embryo (now my 2 yo dd!). I also experienced a lot of cramping through much of my pregnancy. She implanted on the anterior side of my uterus, so I guess that made me feel some things that not everyone experiences.

So, I would just try not to worry. Think of it as a possible good sign until you know it is something different. Try to remember every little detail, because if it is your time to be pregnant, you will want to burn those memories in your brain forever.

Best wishes, and sending prayers up for you,
Sherri

Hi S. - I think we've talked before... I know it's hard, but try to relax!! I cramped throughout the whole process, and through much of my pregnancy. Just as posted before, you are HOPEFULLY feeling implantation, and then as the baby or babies (in my case) continue to grow the uterus expands and thus you get some cramping - at least I did.

You've just got 2 more full days to get through!! My RE rushed the reults because I had horrible anxiety, so maybe your RE will do the same for you!

I'll be thinking positive baby thoughts for you - be sure to post and let us know Wed!!! L.:)

Hi S.,
Try to relax as much as you can. I know it is easier said than done. I have gone through IVF twice and I know what it is like to sit and wonder. I bled like crazy the second time and was totally freaking out. I even took a store pregnancy test before my blood test which they do not recommend.

I am believing the best for you!

Hi S....I've been wondering how your IVF was going. Remember that every woman and every pregnancy is different. With my son (who was my IVF baby) I did have cramping...and even light spotting after the beta came back positive. Some women spot upon implantation when the embryo is burrowing into the uterine wall...some don't. My cramping was not severe just enough to make me feel "crampy" and nervouse. Yep, I drove my husband crazy too...although he was just as nervous as I was. And...everything turned out perfectly fine nine months later. A lot of women experience "menstral" like cramps when they become pregnant...I did with both of mine. Even at a few months I would feel crampy sometimes...I think because of hormones and the uterus changing. I'm not sure...but try not to freak out and get negative. You don't know until you get your beta back....try to stay busy doing something else but nothing physical. Take good care of yourself and pray...I found that only until I gave I realized God had a plan for me, whatever it was, and gave my worries to Him that things seem to finally seem to follow your dreams. Please keep me posted on your results. Good luck, sending positive thoughts and prayers your way. God Bless you and your husband S..

From my experience, symptoms after IVF vary widely. (We are in our second cycle). The two week wait until your Beta is the worst and you evaluate every twinge and feeling with a fine tooth comb, trying to decipher if it is a 'sign' or not. My primary care physican told me a long time ago if I were pregnant I would feel like I was going to get my period but then never get it, and that is exactly what it felt like when I was pregnant with my son. Try to relax and hang in there until you have your test Wednesday. (I know that is easier said then done!)

Good Luck!
