Itchy - Riverview,MI

I'm 9 months pregnant and I cannot stop itching!!!!!! I itch everywhere - in my hair, my wrists, ankles, arms, you name it. There are no bug bites on me and I moisturize with amazing products so I know it's not dry skin or eczema. I just feel like I'm losing my mind! I faintly remember hearing something about pregnant women and itching. Any thoughts?

What can I do next?

Hi C. ~
It could be PUPPS. I always forget what each letter stands for (even though I work L&D!), but it's something that pregnant women get and they itch like crazy! You should talk to your doctor. They may give you some cream or Benadryl to take, but the only real cure is delivery. I've even had patients that were induced because of it.
Good Luck! Hope you feel better!

I feel for you, sister! I had that with my first pregnancy, it was on my feet. I remember the "losing your mind" unable to sleep feeling you are talking about. I was very close to the end of my pregancy, as you are now, & my doctor was able to put me on a 7 day cycle of cortizone. Since it was so late in the pregnancy, birth defects were a non issue. After the very first pill, the itching decreased significantly. Check out this link: http://dermatology.about.com/cs/pregnancy/a/puppp.htm
Lauren came out healthy & fine and I went on to have another pregnancy that did NOT result in this rash. My prayers are with you!
