Is It Appropriate to Have a Shower for #2

I'm only 4 months pregnant & know this is a little early, but is it appropriate to have a shower for baby #2? I work at a different place/have different coworkers so there would be different people to invite... And if it is a boy (my first was for a girl), does that matter? I'm not greedy, I just want to celebrate and give as much attention to the 2nd as I did the 1st.

What can I do next?

do what you feel is right for you-maybe just host a party instead.
most of your co-workers, etc will wind up giving you a gift when the baby comes.

I had a shower with both my pregnancies as did many people I knew. And most of the same people who came to my first shower, came to my second. No matter what number baby this is, you should celebrate them all. Congradulations on your baby.

When I had my second son I was asked if I was going to have a shower for him. I didn't think it was necessary since I had all the items from my first son. But work did one for me anyways, which felt nice. Several friends did give me diapers. It didn't make me feel like I was taking something away from my second son.

Now pregnant with #3 I may have one if it's a girl but not if it's a boy. I have soo many clothes and still have all the items. but friends will still give gifts even if there is no baby shower. I think the no shower for same sex when it's close is old school and just something I grew up with.

I have had friends that did have showers for all their kids even if baby was the same sex. It's personal preference. If you have a friend willing to do all the work for you then by all means let them do it. relax and enjoy.

I read this to read the responses from everyone. I am also prego with number 2 and I feel a little greedy having a shower but, like you I want to celebrate the baby! So, I am going to let go of any of that and just relax and enjoy it!

Wow! Congratulations! You are in the same situation I am! I have a 20 month old son and another one on the way in April. I am having two more baby showers for this baby! There are still items I need - not to mention, items that did not work well with the first baby. Secondly, you need a double stroller, diapers, etc...with the second one. Go ahead and enjoy your pregnancy and don't let anyone make you feel any different about it. It's a baby a precious life - celebrate. Happy Thanksgiving.

P.S. write me if you ever want to compare notes.
Good luck!
